Frequently Asked Questions (FAQS)

The MECR structures language competence in three bands (A: basic user; B: independent user; C: experienced user). Each band includes two levels (A: A1 and A2; B: B1 and B2; C: C1 and C2) and therefore it is considered that there are six levels in the process of learning a language (from A1 , beginner level to C2, mastery level). Some levels, especially from B2 onwards, can be subdivided due to their complexity (B2 = B2.1+B2.2, for example).

In each UPF Language course, the skills described for the corresponding level are worked on and achieved (according to the 4 modes of communication described in the MECR: reception, production, interaction and mediation).

The certificates certify the type of course, the year of completion and the level established within the Common European Framework of Reference.

No, the course certificates do not expire as far as accreditation of the level achieved is concerned. However, if they are to be used to access our courses, or occasionally those of foreign universities or certain entities, they are required not to be more than a certain age in order to guarantee that the candidate still has the same language level.

Yes, although certain entities may request specific evidence or a maximum amount of time from obtaining it.

No, the courses have a duration of one academic year and registration can only be done in September-October.

No, the student who decides to leave the course must notify the withdrawal via e-secretariat. If you have paid for the entire course, part of the amount will be returned depending on the notification date (consult conditions in the registration section).

In general, we have different timetables for the same level and, for justified reasons such as internships, a change of group can be processed for a term to ensure good monitoring and knowledge acquisition. Communicate your problem during the registration process so that the coordination of the Open Language Classroom can advise you correctly.

Once the academic year has ended (July), the service will inform the student by e-mail of the costs and procedures to be carried out to obtain the course's language certificate in case of passing it.

Contact language coordination aulaidiomes@tecnocampus.cat or with the Student Information Point (PIE) pie@tecnocampus.cat and they will inform you of the nearest period for processing.
