Academic internships

 

External academic internships are educational activities that allow students to put their theoretical knowledge into practice and gain experience, improving skills and abilities that have been worked on throughout the degree. It also allows them to have the first contact with the world of work and can serve as a gateway to it.

For companies hosting interns allows them to detect new talent and contribute to the creation of university talent. 

The educational model of TecnoCampus studies is based on the pillars of the innovation, entrepreneurship and professionalization.

All the degrees taught are aimed at quality employment of students. At TecnoCampus we promote internships so that students can complete their studies with an external internship in a company. 

IMPORTANT SOCIAL SECURITY!

As established the Royal Decree Law 2/2023, of March 16 and the Royal Decree Law 5/2023, of June 28, fromJanuary 1 2024 establish the obligation to register all students with Social Securityand practice, so practical remunerated With unpaid.

Contributions must be made as follows:

PAID INTERNSHIPS: The registration and payment of the Social Security contributions corresponds to the company hosting the student in practice. To the quota, one will be applied 95% reduction in fees due to common contingencies. The minimum monthly contribution base will be the one in force at all times with respect to contribution group 7. 

WORK EXPERIENCE NOT PAID: TecnoCampus will take over the management and cost of registering for Social Security for students in unpaid internships from January 2024.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

  • Availability of students who have been trained at TecnoCampus, located in a technology and innovation park.

  • The company publishes the offer and freely selects the student who is interested in the offer, we do not have exchange of CVs.

Companies that request extracurricular educational cooperation agreements or renewals of extracurricular agreements must pay the management fee for educational cooperation agreements of € 100 (+ VAT), approved by resolution of the General Directorate of TecnoCampus number 54 / 2019 which you can see here

However, the following exemptions will be made in the payment of the fee:

  • Companies that have a current lease agreement with the Tecnocampus Foundation or that have a current contract as a member of the TCM Pass collective.
  • Non-profit organizations and organizations.
  • Public administrations, entities and public bodies dependent on them.

In the event that the student unsubscribes from the educational cooperation agreement unilaterally during the first 15 days from the start of the internship, the previous fee will not be charged to the company.

  • Curricular internships: These are practices with academic recognition. The student must be enrolled in the practice subject. (The management fee for educational cooperation agreements does not apply).
  • Extracurricular internships: These are practices without academic recognition but which provide experience. (They will have to pay TecnoCampus the management fee for the educational cooperation agreements).

Students from the departments ofCompany, Cultural and/or Technology Industries

For Health practices, you must contact the Health department directly.

  • Business, Technology and Cultural Industries: students can start the internship when they have passed 60 ECTS of the degree (all first year passed)
     
  • Health: for Health practices, you must contact the Health department directly.

Although ea minimum price of €5/hour is recommended, the internships at Tecnocampus are not compulsorily remunerated, except for Engineering studies, where the minimum price is €6/hour (Industrial and Automatic Electronics, Mechanical Engineering and Computer Engineering for Management and Information Systems).

In the event that the internships are remunerated (in any study), the company establishes directly with the student the remuneration that will be received as a study aid and makes the payment directly to the student. The aid has a minimum income tax withholding of 2%.


Reminder for internships in engineering studies: Remuneration cannot be less than € 6 / hour.

The dedication of the students participating in the agreement must be compatible with their studies. During the teaching period, it is usually not possible to exceed 20 hours per week.

The time commitment by department is: 

TECHNOLOGY and CULTURAL INDUSTRIES: A maximum of 800 hours of practice can be completed per academic year. 

COMPANY: A maximum of 800 hours of practice can be completed per academic year. 

The time commitment in case of curricular practices is: 

  • Business Administration and Innovation Management: 350 hours (14 ECTS)
  • Marketing and Digital Communities: 350 hours (14 ECTS) or 300 hours (12 ECTS) (students who started the degree before the 20-21 academic year)
  • Double Degree in ADE and Innovation Management and Marketing and Digital Communities: 350 hours (14 ECTS)
  • Tourism and Leisure Management or Double Degree in ADE and Innovation Management and Tourism and Leisure Management: 500 hours (20 ECTS)
  • Logistics and Maritime Business: 400 hours (16 ECTS) or 550 hours (22 ECTS) (students who started the degree before the 20-21 academic year) 

The steps to follow to contact TecnoCampus students are:

  1. Register the company in the app TecnoCampus Talent Bag
  2. Submit the offer. Once the offer has been entered, within a maximum of 5 working days, the studies coordinator will validate it
  3. Interested students will submit their application.
  4. You can consult their CVs online and arrange interviews directly with the candidates.
  5. Once the student has been selected, the company must fill out the form that will be found in the application, under the "CREATE AGREEMENT" tab.
  6. En the maximum period of one week, once validated by the academic leaders, the company will receive the PDF of the agreement to be signed by both the company and the student, and send it to talent@tecocampus.cat

If you have a pre-selected candidate without having published an offer:

  1. Access or register the company on TecnoCampus Talent Bag
  2. NOTE: The student must also be registered on TecnoCampus Talent Bag
  3. The company will have to fill in the Data Collection, which you will find in the application, in the tab AGREEMENTS - CREATE AGREEMENTS.
  4. In the case of extracurricular agreements within a maximum period of one week, once validated by the academic leaders, the company will receive the PDF of the agreement to be signed by both the company and the student, and send it to talent@tecocampus.cat

If the student has not reached the maximum of 900 hours of internship in the academic year, the renewal of the agreement can be requested. The steps to follow are:

1. Access TecnoCampus Talent Bag

2. The company must access the AGREEMENTS - MY AGREEMENTS tab.

3. Select the agreement you want to renew (SEE AGREEMENT - at the bottom you will find the tab to renew it)

4. In the case of extracurricular agreements within a maximum period of one week, once validated by the academic managers, the company will receive the PDF of the agreement that both the company and the student must sign and send a talent@tecocampus.cat. In the case of curricular agreements or with academic recognition, the period of 10 working days may be longer, as they will be approved as soon as the validation procedures in force are completed.

The management fee for extracurricular agreements of € 100 + VAT also applies to renewals of agreements.  

You can request internship agreements throughout the academic year, but during holiday periods the deadlines are: 

CHRISTMAS: Deadline for applications December 15 (Agreements with start date between on December 23 and January 20)

Closing of the service: From December 23rd to January 7th (both included)

EASTER: Deadline for applications April 6 (Agreements with start date between on April 14 and 28)

Service closure: From April 14 to 21 (both inclusive)

SUMMER: Deadline for applications July 19 (Agreements with start date between on July 26 and September 16)

Closure of the service: August

NOTE: Remember that no student can start an internship without having the educational cooperation agreement approved by the university. In no case will the university be responsible for applications received outside the established deadlines. 

It is the responsibility of the student to have in force all the necessary documentation to be able to carry out internships.

In the case of students from outside the EU, it is also the student's responsibility to have the appropriate residence permit in force to be able to do the internship.

In no case will the University be responsible for the fulfillment of this requirement by the students.
