The Tecnocampus Master's Degree in Economics and Social Enterprise, official title of Pompeu Fabra University represents the first official training offer throughout the history of Catalonia.
We are at a crucial historical moment, in which the challenges we face, such as climate change, increasing inequalities, democratic degradation, the impact of new technologies or the fight for gender equality, require also from the economy face them from a rigorous perspective that contributes to reversing the negative effects of these challenges.
The Social Economy, which promotes democratically based organizations aimed at satisfying people's needs by generating a positive impact on the collective and the planet as a whole, takes a central role. This is confirmed by the impetus that the social economy is having on an international scale since the launch of the Social Economy Action Plan of the European Commission (December 2021), the recommendations of the ILO and the OECD (June of 2022), the Social and Proximity Economy Transition Path within the Commission's new European Industrial Strategy (November 2022) and the United Nations resolution (April 2023). All these initiatives recognize the essential role of the social economy in fair, inclusive and sustainable economic and industrial development, as well as its contribution to territorial cohesion and the stimulation of social innovation.
This Master's degree, promoted by the Tecnocampus Chair of Social Economy (the only one existing in Catalonia), aims, through criteria of excellence, to train managers to promote the creation and consolidation of this type of organization that promote the necessary structural change that the planet requires, and in turn seeks to train in the research fields those people who want to develop a scientific career in this discipline. The Master's staff, of a very high national and international level, together with the integration into the Social Economy ecosystem that the Chair allows, make these studies not only a pioneering and unique offer in Catalonia, but also framed in the trajectory of Pompeu Fabra University in the area of Economics and Business, it guarantees a high standard of quality.

Goals
General objectives
Train managers to promote the creation and consolidation of social economy organizations that promote structural change, and at the same time, seek to train in research fields those people who want to develop a scientific career in this discipline .
Specific objectives
- Acquire the necessary tools for the direction and management of companies in the Social Economy. For this, it will be necessary for students to integrate the basic foundations of the Social Economy, as well as the tools for the creation and administration of this type of company.
- Provide a conceptual structure related to innovation in this type of organization, as well as the contribution of this type of company to environmental, economic and social sustainability.
- Train students who want to develop a scientific or academic career. Therefore, the tools of scientific research are included and the main emphasis is on research methodologies.
- Include a theoretical-practical training through stays in Social Economy companies and the possibility of preparing a final Master's Thesis (TFM) of a scientific nature that allows students to apply the knowledge acquired throughout the master's degree.
Admission profile
The Master is aimed at graduates in Economics, Business Administration and Management and/or other degrees in the field of Social Sciences and technical degrees.
It is also directed to Economics and Social Enterprise professionals with a university degree.
This master's degree also plays a fundamental role in training of researchers and/or teachers interested in doing the doctorate or joining research teams in the field of Economics and Social Enterprise.
Note: for those graduates who meet the entry profile, but who do not come from degrees directly related to the area of Economics and Business (Business Administration and Management, Economics, Law and Psychology, Sociology, Political Science, Social Work, Social Education, Geography, and History), as well as degrees of a technical nature (such as Environmental Sciences and Engineering), will have to take 2 ECTS Basic Foundations of Economics and Business, which do not they will count in the total credits for obtaining the master's degree.
