On August 2, the Tourism Coordinator Dr. Albert Blasco was invited by the Catholic University of Santo Domingo (UCSD) to give a lecture that was broadcast live to other Dominican universities in Mexico and Colombia by videoconference. The topic was "the impacts of tourism on the host society."
Taking advantage of the opportunity Dr. Blasco was received by Giselle Diaz, Director of International Public Relations Ministry of Tourism of the Dominican Republic, at this meeting was informed of the functioning of the ministry and exchanged ideas on the negative impacts produced by Tourism. He later met with Jenniffer Núñez and Juana Sicard, members of the management team of the National Association of Hotels and Restaurants; in this meeting he was informed of the various actions carried out by the tourism business employer with the Dominican government. And finally Dr. Blasco met with Pilar Constanzo, director of the Escuela Superior de Turismo, which is part of the UCSD, finding common points of interest, especially with regard to future collaborations for master's and doctoral degrees.
