Last Wednesday, November 10, the TecnoCampus Auditorium hosted BBVA's "Economic Day in the Maresme".

The opening of the event was given by the Mayor of Mataró, Mr. Joan Antoni Baron.

According to the data explained at the conference, the Catalan economy has begun to recover with positive growth rates during the first half of 2010. Fiscal changes and the pressure on public accounts, however, make it difficult for Catalonia to continue accelerating during the second half.

With regard to the Maresme, the effort of adaptation that the region has to face to change its economic structure, traditionally industrial, towards a more tertiary one was highlighted (as shown by the very conceptualization of the TecnoCampus). It was also pointed out that tourism empowerment and deseasonalization are key to local economic recovery.
