The TecnoCampus Conference Center hosted yesterday, October 19, the innovation day "Digital and sustainable transition of the textile and fashion value chain in Catalonia", with the attendance of around 150 representatives of companies, sector associations and administrations. In the various interventions, the willingness of the sector to see the challenge of sustainability as opportunities for growth and the creation of new businesses through innovation was highlighted. During the event, the Reimagine Textile awards were presented.

A good example of this innovative capacity were the projects presented at the Reimagine Textile awards, jointly organized by the Mataró City Council, the Eurecat technology center and the TecnoCampus. This program makes available to entrepreneurs, startups and companies in the sector an incubation space and FabLAB (fabrication and prototyping textile laboratory) for the generation of new companies.

Yesterday's winners were Sustein (Innovation plus and Sustainability and circular economy awards); Ubra (functional textile award); Rrent (Digital Business Model Award); and Infinite Athletics (special mention). All of them will enjoy a bonus stay in the incubator.

Before the day, in the framework of ACTE, one was carried out work session where the current leaders of the industrial policy of the main Catalan cities with a textile tradition -Mataró, Sabadell, Igualada, Terrassa and Manresa-, together with the presidencies of the guilds, clusters and technological centers specialized in the textile and fashion value chain, shared territorial experiences of economic development in the sector and jointly identified present and future challenges, to strengthen business competitiveness in a conjunctural moment in which a return to zero kilometer production is experienced.

The day held yesterday was sponsored by companies in the textile value chain. Specifically, from the fashion firm Bobo Choses as sponsor SYLVER; technical fabric manufacturer SportWearFabrics and fashion brand Colibrí as BRONZE sponsors. And finally, EPSON, a company with solutions for the digitization of the textile sector, also as a BRONZE sponsor. In the central conference of the day, Emili Rousaud, CEO of Factor Energia, advised entrepreneurs to invest in facilities that allow them to supply themselves with energy, as he predicted that the high prices of gas and electricity they will remain "As a country, we have a privileged position to supply and export wind and solar energy", he pointed out.

Jaume Ferrús, vice president of Eurecat; Francesc Casas, president of Asegema; Sergi Morales, Councilor of Employment and Business of Mataró; and David Bote, mayor of Mataró, pointed out in their interventions that the role of the public sector is to contribute to the innovation of a sector with deep roots and with the possibility of continuing to grow. In the round table that starred the companies Finsa, Hilaturas Arnau, Texia, Bobo Choses and Original Buff, there was a coincidence in pointing out sustainability as an opportunity for the future.
