Description

The editing, together with the script and direction, is one of the main aspects of the process of creating the audiovisual work. It is in the field of post-production that new technologies and the most creative side of the audiovisual industry are currently being combined with greater success.

Through the theoretical and practical knowledge acquired in the subject the student will be able to understand and use the necessary elements of the different processes that make up the post-production.

The subject of video post-production focuses on three areas: analysis, technology and practice. On the one hand, that the student obtains a formation as much of the theoretical rules, the resources of language, the history and the use of the color; such as its application in different genres and products through sequence analysis. On the other hand, understand all the necessary post-production stages and the most important technical aspects related to each of them. Finally, know and carry out in a practical way all the processes in each of the facets to complete an audiovisual work with the highest quality and in any format.

Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student must be able to:

- Plan the process of assembly and post-production of different types of audiovisual products relating the characteristics of the editing platforms with the technical objectives of the project.

- Configure and maintain post-production equipment.

- Prepare materials for exchange with other platforms and external companies, recognizing the characteristics of standards and standard protocols for the exchange of documents and audiovisual products.

- Generate and / or introduce in the post-production process the image effects valuing the functional and operational characteristics of the standardized tools and technologies.

- Carry out the finishing processes in the post-production of the audiovisual product.

- Be able to work autonomously and professionally using the DaVinci Resolve program.

Working methodology

The theoretical concepts will be presented in class by the teacher, where you will also see audiovisual examples that illustrate the theory to generate a discussion in class with the participation of students. In some theoretical sessions questionnaires of the subject will be carried out.

The activities in the computer laboratory will explain in the practical field the Davinci Resolve software to be able to carry out the post-production work that will be requested during the course. Practices are a fundamental part of the classes, as they serve to work on the theoretical concepts taught

in class. The internships will increase with increasing level of complexity and consequently the demand on their quality and delivery time will be affected.

Classroom operation:

The front door will close ten minutes after the start of the class and will not be accessible until the end of the break. The front door will close ten minutes after the end of the break.

Practical classes are compulsory and it is necessary to attend a minimum of 4 in order to be assessed in the work of the practical part. Practical classes will be held non-stop due to their nature. The front door will close ten minutes from the start.

The teacher is not required to upload notes to the virtual campus. Links will be posted in relation to the topics, with mandatory readings and views, as well as resources for further information.

- Theoretical: viewings, questionnaires and visits by professionals.

- Practices: exercises and practical deliveries.

- Exams: two in the theoretical part and one in the practical part.

Theoretical activities:

- Viewers related to the analysis and technology part.

- Throughout the course there will be two questionnaires during the theoretical sessions in relation to the topics explained, readings and compulsory viewings. These questionnaires are not of an evaluative nature but will be explained as assistance.

- Within the theoretical sessions there will be two visits of professionals in the sector

Practical activities (in the computer lab):

Individual non-evaluation exercises. They will be done in class to explain the practical concepts.

Delivery of compulsory assessable internships. Throughout the course there will be three practical assignments that the student will have to deliver according to the statement and established dates. The explanation of the practices will be reported throughout the course.

Each student must have a Vimeo account where they will post the practical assignments.

Exams:

In the theoretical part, two exams will be taken, one during the course of the subject and another at the end of the course.

From the practical part there will be a theoretical exam at the end of the course.

Evaluation system

The evaluation of the subject is as follows:

Theory (40%) + Practice (60%)

40% theory:

Theory exam 1: 50%

Theory exam 2: 50%

60% practice:

Theoretical exam practical part: 25%

Practice 1: 15%

Practice 2: 25%

Practice 3: 35%

Rules for evaluation:

The subject evaluates theoretical and practical knowledge. In this sense, to make an average, both the theoretical part (exams) and the practical part (exam, and practices) will be taken into account.

It is necessary to obtain a minimum of 4 in the theoretical and practical part to be able to carry out the final average.

It is necessary to attend a minimum of 4 practical sessions so that the deliveries related to the practical part of the subject average.

Considerations:

- No grade below 4 will average.

- It is necessary to deliver the three practical activities to be able to average the practical part.

- There is no recovery of the practices of the subject.

- No work submitted after the deadline is allowed.

- The recovery will consist of a theoretical exam of the suspended part, either of the theory and / or practice, being two different exams.

- Spelling, grammar and presentation mistakes will be noted, which may lead to the suspension of a work. More than 15 misspellings involve suspense.

- Plagiarism involves suspending any work with a 0. A second plagiarism by the same student involves the suspension of the subject without the right to recovery.

- Active participation in class is considered absolutely necessary and will be taken into account in the Attitude part of the subject.
