Description

Given the number of citizens of the metropolitan area of ​​Barcelona - Maresme who use English as a language of communication and the possibilities of mobility of health professionals within the European Union, having a solid base of knowledge of the English language it is considered an important element of a nursing degree student's education. This highly communicative course works on the skills necessary for a nurse to communicate effectively in a health-related environment. Furthermore, given the amount of academic articles published in the English language within the health sciences area, the ability of undergraduate students to be able to read in English effectively has become imperative.

Learning outcomes

The main objective of this course is:

To enable students to develop their ability to communicate effectively in English and read academic and scientific articles in this language and be able to write a summary in English.

As such, the learning outcomes are as follows:

Be able to understand and express yourself in written and spoken English.

Be able to understand texts in English related to scientific evidence in the field of nursing.

Be able to design strategies to improve understanding. and communication with individuals and groups of different nationalities.

Be able to understand the language of health information systems

Working methodology

The methodology of the course will be of a very practical nature. Each session will include a variety of activities designed to develop the main language strategies. The main objective of this subject will be the active use of English in a dynamic environment.

Synopsis: The contents are highly functional and are linked to real situations through task-based learning. Understand and express themselves orally in English.
