Skills

Specific skills
  • RAE6 - You will analyze the anatomical structures and the physiological changes that occur in people as a result of the interventions of the physiotherapy professional, in their application in the specific subjects.

  • RAE8 - You will be able to explain the pathophysiology of diseases by identifying the manifestations that appear throughout the processes, the medical-surgical treatments, fundamentally in their physiotherapeutic aspects.

  • RAE21 - You will identify the fundamental concepts of health and the function performed by the physiotherapist in the healthcare system by identifying dysfunctions related to physiotherapy in the areas of Primary Care, Specialized and Occupational Health.

Description

The subject of musculoskeletal pathology includes three medical specialties such as rheumatology, traumatology and physical medicine - rehabilitation. Rheumatic pathology will help us to establish the basis of the non-traumatic pathology of the musculoskeletal system that is susceptible to physiotherapeutic treatment

Traumatic pathology will help us to know the injuries that can occur in the musculoskeletal system, allowing a multidisciplinary approach with other health professionals who collaborate with the physiotherapist for the improvement of the patient, as well as their evolution.

The distribution of the theoretical content of the subject can be consulted in the schedule and sections of the corresponding virtual classroom before its start.

This subject aims to introduce the gender perspective in its content and development. In addition, the objectives are aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda of the United Nations.

The classroom (physical or virtual) is a safe space, free of sexist, racist, homophobic, transphobic and discriminatory attitudes, either towards students or towards teachers. We trust that together we can create a safe space where we can make mistakes and learn without having to suffer prejudice from others.

Contents

The main musculoskeletal pathologies will be explained according to anatomical regions, both at the level of trauma and evolutionary/overuse pathologies and also those caused by or linked to the evolution of a rheumatic process.

  • Topic 1: muscle and tendon injuries
  • Topic 2: musculoskeletal injuries of the spine
  • Topic 3: musculoskeletal shoulder injuries
  • Topic 4: elbow and hand musculoskeletal injuries
  • Topic 5: musculoskeletal hip injuries
  • Topic 6: Musculoskeletal knee injuries
  • Topic 7: musculoskeletal ankle and foot injuries

Evaluation system

This subject may consider the following indicators detailed below in its assessment proposal:

Qualification system (Royal Decree 1125/2003, of September 5) which establishes the European system of credits and the system of qualifications for university degrees of an official nature and valid throughout the national territory:

Evaluation system Minimum weighting Maximum weighting
  SE1. Electronic portfolio 10% 40%
  SE2. Oral presentation 20% 50%
  SE3. Exam 30% 60%
  SE4. self-evaluation 5% 30%
  SE5. Peer evaluation (2P2) or co-evaluation 5% 30%

The subjects will have evaluation and recovery activities in accordance with the teaching guide and the subject's learning plan, published in their virtual classroom and which will establish the necessary requirements to be able to participate. In accordance with current UPF regulations, all students who, having participated in learning and assessment activities during the term, have obtained a failing grade for the corresponding subject in the quarterly assessment, may participate in the recovery process . Those who have not participated in the learning and assessment activities or who have waived the assessment will not be able to participate. If the grade is "not presented", you will not be able to opt for recovery and therefore the subject will have to be taken again in its entirety in the following academic year.

In the event of copying, plagiarism or illegitimate use of generative artificial intelligence in any assessment activity, you must consult the TecnoCampus University Center's Undergraduate and Master's Course Assessment Regulations.
