The subject Practicum IV includes all those activities within the teaching-learning process aimed at acquiring skills in the healthcare environment of professional practice. During their development, the student participates in clinical practice, as well as in group tutorials that guide them to reflect on clinical practice.
To be able to do Practical IV, it is necessary to have approved Practicals I, II and III. Practical IV is made up of a practical block of external practices at specialized physiotherapy centers and/or hospitals, and another block of work related to the practices. These practices will be supervised by two very important figures: the clinical tutor and the academic tutor. The clinical tutor will be from the collaborating entity where the student will carry out the internship and his main function will be to ensure that the internship goes well, respecting its educational purpose. This figure is presented as an indispensable tool in the student's learning during this period. The advice, support and tutoring ensures quality in the process of achieving theoretical and practical knowledge of the student, in an area of transcendent importance, such as external practices. The academic tutor will be a university professor who guides the student's learning process always from a teaching perspective and in contact with the clinical tutor. Both tutors have the function of guaranteeing both the development of the skills acquired by the students and their assessment.
The distribution of the theoretical and/or practical content of the subject can be consulted in the schedule and sections of the corresponding virtual classroom before it starts.
This subject aims to introduce the gender perspective in its content and development. In addition, the objectives are aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda of the United Nations.
The classroom (physical or virtual) is a safe space, free of sexist, racist, homophobic, transphobic and discriminatory attitudes, either towards students or towards teachers. We trust that together we can create a safe space where we can make mistakes and learn without having to suffer prejudice from others.
Direct contact with patients and the multidisciplinary team in different hospital and/or specialized physiotherapy centers where patients with different acute, subacute and chronic injuries of different levels of complexity are treated in order to promote learning in the evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of the different pathological processes in which the Physiotherapist works.
Integration into the professional part of the knowledge, skills, procedures and attitudes specific to physiotherapy in the different external centers assigned
Approach to clinical cases specific to physiotherapy
This subject may consider the following indicators detailed in the table in its assessment proposal:
Evaluation system | Minimum weighting | Maximum weighting |
S8. Elaboration of the internship report | 35% | 35% |
SE9. Evaluation of the monitoring of practices | 65% | 65% |
A system of quantitative (from 0 to 10) and qualitative (suspended, approved, notable, excellent, honorary registration) is used according to RD 1125/2003.
The subjects will have evaluation and recovery activities in accordance with the teaching guide and the subject's learning plan, published in their virtual classroom and which will establish the necessary requirements to be able to participate.
In accordance with current UPF regulations, all students who, having participated in the learning and assessment activities during the term, have obtained a failing grade for the corresponding subject in the quarterly assessment may participate in the recovery process . Those who have not participated in the learning and assessment activities or who have waived the assessment will not be able to participate. If the grade is "not submitted", you will not be able to opt for recovery and therefore the subject will have to be taken again in its entirety in the following academic year.
In the event that the student makes a single unjustified absence, the subject's grade will be "Not Presented" and he/she will not be entitled to recovery. In the event of exceeding the maximum number of justified absences or failing to pass the subject, there is the possibility of recovering it in the established recovery period.
In the event of copying, plagiarism or illegitimate use of generative artificial intelligence in any assessment activity, you must consult the TecnoCampus University Center's Undergraduate and Master's Course Assessment Regulations.
