Cardiorespiratory physiotherapy is one of the branches within physiotherapy that, through the application of different therapeutic agents, is responsible for the prevention, stabilization and treatment of conditions that affect the respiratory and cardiac system. We are currently at a time of growth and expansion of cardiorespiratory physiotherapy due to the increase in the incidence of many respiratory and cardiovascular diseases and also thanks to the recognition and acceptance of this therapy by other health specialties. It should be remembered that with the current Covid19 pandemic, respiratory physiotherapists have been at the forefront of the hospital performing their tasks.
In this subject, students must deepen their knowledge of respiratory physiology as a basis for understanding the operation of the treatment techniques used in cardiorespiratory physiotherapy as well as to know the mechanisms involved in the pathophysiology of the different respiratory and cardiovascular diseases. It is a subject with a high practical content (4 ECTS) where the student will have the opportunity to learn the basic skills to assess, diagnose and treat a patient with respiratory pathology according to current trends based on the scientific evidence.
Adaptation COVID19
This subject has methodological and digital resources to make possible its continuity in non-contact mode in the case of being necessary for reasons related to the Covid-19. This will facilitate the achievement of the knowledge and skills specified in this teaching plan. However, in relation to those practical contents of the subject in which the acquisition of procedural and attitudinal skills by students is essential, it can be considered, if the health situation requires it, the partial and temporary suspension of this with the consequent postponement in its continuity until the health situation allows it.

The subject of cardio-respiratory physiotherapy is divided into a theoretical block and a practical block.
In the theoretical block we will address the following contents:
Topic 1. Physiology of the cardiorespiratory system
Item 2. Functional and clinical assessment
Item 3. Respiratory physiotherapy techniques
Item 4. Cardiopulmonary rehabilitation
Item 5. Cardiorespiratory physiotherapy applied to different populations
Item 6. Update of COVID19 and respiratory physiotherapy
In the practical block, we will address in depth the contents taught in the theoretical block according to the schedule of the subject.
Plenary sessions. Master classes with multimedia support and interactive platforms, aimed at the presentation of the contents, clarification of doubts and learning based on problem solving.
Regulated practices in the laboratory. Theoretical-practical sessions in the laboratories where the different assessment and treatment techniques in respiratory physiotherapy will be explained and practiced.
Simulation. Sessions in the simulation laboratory where different competencies related to the resolution of clinical cases will be worked on.
Self-employment. Reading of recommended texts, revision of articles, elaboration of individual works, questionnaires, self-learning activities in moodle. Personal study.

To pass the course, the two specific blocks must be passed separately (theoretical block 40% and practical block 60%).
It is recommended to attend 100% of the practical block.
The total or partial copy in any of the learning activities will mean a "Not Presented" in the subject, without option to present in the proof of recovery and without prejudice of the opening of a file for this reason.
Recovery period.
Students will have the option to retake the subject when they have taken the final exam in each of the blocks and have not passed the subject.
Continuous evaluation will not be retrievable.
The grades obtained in the continuous assessment will be kept as part of the final grade of the subject, both passed and not passed, in order to preserve the criteria of continuous assessment, maintaining the same weighting as in the first. call.
Health
Considering the current health situation, attendance at the theoretical-practical classes will be highly recommended and absenteeism for health reasons will not prevent the possibility of passing the subject. In this sense, the system of continuous assessment provides for a series of varied assessment activities and in sufficient numbers to facilitate the learning process of students, with the possibility, for health reasons, of being able to perform them in a in person.
Rules of conduct
Class attendance without respecting the basic rules of hygiene and uniformity in dress may be sanctioned. Given the situation caused by the pandemic, the indications related to security and protection in the practical spaces, included in a document of the School and which will be available to students in the virtual classroom, must be considered and respected. All teachers will be aware of this information and will ensure compliance.
During the theoretical classes, the video must be turned on and behave in the same way as in class.
During the class practices and especially during the assessment tests, students will not be able to wear objects that may interfere with the execution of the techniques, such as rings, watches, bracelets, long earrings, etc. Also, hand hygiene will be paramount, with short, clean, unpainted cut nails.
