Today, companies assume that their employees have a very good command of spreadsheet programs. Excel helps to solve many different problems and is relatively simple, you can quickly reach a result for common analyzes in the company.

In this subject, the most useful applications of the Excel tool are taught in a practical way, always with examples, in the broad context of Management Control (Controlling). The knowledge acquired can also be applied in other spreadsheet programs such as Google Sheets or OpenOffice Calc. This course is of interest to those who want to make useful use of data and turn it into information.

• Know the structure of the 'Excel' application.

• Know and learn in a structured way the most useful tools in the context of Controlling (management control).

• Learn to use tables and dynamic tables in the context of Controlling (Structure data appropriately for analysis and/or the preparation of reports and graphs).

• Apply recommended rules for creating tables and graphs in terms of structure and display.

• Use the Excel tool in the context of reporting.

• Know and learn to use more sophisticated Excel functions and tools.

• Prepare a control chart, taking into account the Controlling processes.

Activities and evaluation system

The subject will be assessed through continuous assessment throughout the course. This assessment will consist of the development of different activities throughout the term. The final grade will be based on the following 2 sections:

  1. Individual and/or group work: resolution of 2 exercises (60% of the grade).

  2. Final theoretical-practical exam (40% of the grade).

To pass the subject, a minimum of 5 points must be obtained in the final theoretical-practical exam. The final grade for the subject will be configured as follows:
▪ if the average of the grades obtained in all the activities proposed for continuous assessment is positive, this will be the final grade for the subject.
▪ if the average is not positive and/or the final theoretical-practical exam grade is less than 5 points, the student will have to take the mandatory retake exam.

Remedial exam: if the subject has not been passed through continuous assessment, the student may take the remedial exam. Only the theoretical-practical part of the exam may be remedied. In this case, the grades for the remaining sections will be maintained and cannot be remedied. To pass the subject, a minimum of 5 points must be obtained in the remedial exam and the final average of the grades must be positive.

A student who has not taken the first exam will NOT be able to take the retake exam.

The evaluation system will remain unchanged in the event that classes are held entirely in virtual format.

Any form of academic fraud will be sanctioned in accordance with the center's assessment regulations. If signs of fraud are detected, including the improper use of generative artificial intelligence tools, the subject's teaching staff may call the student for an individual interview with the aim of verifying their authorship.
