  • CT3. Develop tasks applying the acquired knowledge with flexibility and creativity and adapting them to new contexts and situations.

Presentation of the subject

The Master's Final Project must be an original and personal contribution based on the knowledge of its author, the contributions, suggestions and comments of its supervisor and tutor, the data analysis, and the bibliographical references analyzed on the existing previous literature. Likewise, with the TFM it must demonstrate the development of all the general and specific competencies of the master's degree.

Contents

The Master's degree offers students the possibility of choosing between two work modalities:

The definition of each modality is set out in Table 1 below:

Table 1. TFM modalities

ENTREPRENEUR

Innovative project to create a company or propose improvements within an existing company. For example, it involves proposing a new line of business, product, service, carrying out a new purchasing plan, cost study, design of a new production model, storage plan, etc.

SCIENTIFIC

Proposal of an original research topic, with the development of empirical work using sources of statistical or documentary information, ad hoc survey, ad hoc experiment, comparative study, etc. A project based on a systematic review of the literature was also considered.

  1. In the case of making a entrepreneurial work of creating a new company, a Business Plan must be prepared that contains the following sections:
    1. presentation The business to be carried out is presented, as well as its promoters.
    2. Marketing Plan. Define the commercial strategy. This must include an analysis of the product or service to be offered, the target market, the competition, the price, distribution, promotion and sales estimation methods.
    3. Production and Quality Plan. Define aspects related to production, quality management, equipment and infrastructure logistics and occupational protection measures.
    4. Organization and Management Plan. Define the organization of the organization.
    5. Tax Legal Plan. Define all the legal aspects that affect the new company, from the legal form to labor and social security aspects and tax obligations.
    6. Economic-financial plan. Evaluate the economic viability of the project.
    7. Rating. Include the presentation of the strengths and weaknesses of the project.
    •
  2. In the case of developing a entrepreneurial project of intervention on an existing company, the work must follow the following structure:
    1. Introduction. State the motivation and objectives of the project. It is convenient to start with a general discussion of the topic to end by focusing on the particular aspects. Go from the general to the specific. Indicate the intention, scope, objective of the work and the description of the problem to be solved.
    2. Theoretical framework - Literature review. Frame the contribution that it makes to the existing literature, previous works already published in books, journal articles or grey literature (reports, technical documents, etc.). Go from the most general to the most specific. Prioritize the articles published on the platform Web of Science.
    3. Methodology used and data. Explain how the results of the work have been achieved. Indicate how the analysis of the current situation has been carried out and what methodology has been applied to obtain the improvement plan. Likewise, if data has been obtained, explain the primary and secondary sources that have been used and what the data collection methodology has been.
    4. Economic-financial analysis and proposals. In the case of intervention, it is a question of presenting the analysis and the proposals for change. Regarding the analysis, it must include the internal analysis of the current situation of the company and, when appropriate, the external analysis. In the case of having applied proposals during the study period, present the main results.
    5. Conclusions and discussion. Offer conclusions and their discussion. Highlight the contributions and limitations of the work.

  3. In the case of developing un original scientific research project, the work must follow the following structure:
    1. Introduction. Present the motivation and objectives of the project. It is convenient to start with a general discussion of the topic to end by focusing on the particular aspects. Go from the general to the specific. Indicate the objectives of the work and its contributions. Offer the central arguments of the work in an articulated, clear and direct way.
    2. Theoretical framework - Literature review. Frame the contribution that makes to the existing literature, previous works already published in books, journal articles or grey literature (reports, technical documents, etc.). Go from the most general to the most specific. Prioritize articles published on the platform Web of Science.
    3. Methodology used and data. Explain how the results of the work were obtained: comparative case method, econometric analysis, mathematical analysis, etc. Likewise, if data has been obtained, explain the primary and secondary sources that have been used.
    4. results Identify the main results obtained.
    5. Conclusions and discussion. Offer conclusions and their discussion tacitly or explicitly. The criticism must go from the most specific issues to the general approach suggested by the work. From the specific to the general. Highlight the contributions and limitations of the work, as well as new studies and research that can complete the work carried out.

d. In the case of developing a scientific project of systematic review of the literature, the work must follow the following structure:

  2. Methodology used and data. Explain and justify how the articles to be analyzed in the review were selected following the PRISMA methodology or other equivalent methodology.
  3. results First, it is necessary to present and analyze (with basic metrics) the selection of articles that represent the study sample. Second, it is necessary to identify and present the results: following a coherent structure, comparing and contrasting the findings and methodologies used in the selected articles and pointing out the limitations and gaps in the field of literature analyzed.
  4. Conclusions and discussion. Offer conclusions and their discussion tacitly or explicitly. The criticism must go from the most specific issues to the general approach suggested by the work. From the specific to the general. Highlight the contributions and limitations of the work, as well as new studies and research that can complete the work carried out.

Shared Master's Thesis: Master's Thesis shared by two or three students must have a scope equal to two or three individual papers, correspondingly. In the case of scientific and intervention projects, they must contain a broader fieldwork. In the case of new business creation projects, they must analyze one or two sections in more depth.
