European Network to Advance the Development and Implementation of Vocal Biomarkers
eVoiceNet
eVoiceNet is a European project that aims to promote the use of vocal biomarkers in the field of digital health. Through the application of artificial intelligence and voice processing technologies, the project seeks to improve the detection, monitoring and treatment of diseases in a non-invasive and scalable way.
eVoiceNet is a European network with a strong international dimension that brings together more than 80 researchers and institutions from 31 European countries, as well as international partner countries such as the United States, Canada, Colombia and Burkina Faso. This cooperation will allow sharing knowledge, data and methodologies, as well as promoting common standards on a global scale.
This project comes against a backdrop of accelerated growth in voice-based technologies and artificial intelligence applied to healthcare. The human voice can act as a key indicator of different medical conditions, allowing for the detection and monitoring of diseases such as neurological, respiratory or mental health disorders.
Despite this potential, the field of vocal biomarkers still presents important limitations, such as the lack of standardization, the lack of shared data and the need for clinical validation. For this reason, eVoiceNet has as its main objective to create a common European research framework that defines good practices, protocols and guidelines for their implementation.
The project promotes a multidisciplinary and collaborative approach that integrates experts in health, artificial intelligence, voice processing, data protection and industry, with the aim of facilitating knowledge transfer and innovation.
In addition, eVoiceNet will work on:
- The creation of standardized guides for the collection and analysis of voice data
- The development of European data repositories and digital tools
- The guarantee of privacy and data protection
- The integration of these technologies into clinical practice
All of this will contribute to more personalized, preventive and efficient medicine, improving clinical outcomes and patients' quality of life.
Funding sources
The funding received by a COST (European Cooperation in Science and Technology) action covers the costs of networking activities rather than research. As such, it is used to organise and finance events, short-term scientific missions, training schools, communication activities, grants to attend interesting international conferences and virtual networking tools.
