Competencies / Learning Outcomes

Specific skills
  • RAE1 - It will integrate the principles and theories of physical agents being applied as interventions in physiotherapy, care practice documents and clinical simulation.

  • RAE6 - You will analyze the anatomical structures and the physiological changes that occur in people as a result of the interventions of the physiotherapy professional, in their application in the specific subjects.

  • RAE9 - Will be able to encourage user and family participation by applying it in external academic practices.

  • RAE12 - You will apply the assessment of functionality, disability and health and its international classification, as well as intervention models in physiotherapy in your healthcare practice during the practical seminars.

  • RAE16 - It will prepare the most appropriate physiotherapeutic treatment in the different processes of alteration, prevention and promotion of health in the phases of growth and development, applying the guidelines of good clinical practice.

  • RAE17 - You will be able to identify the patient/user situation through a diagnosis of physiotherapy care, planning the interventions, and evaluating their effectiveness in a cooperative work environment with other professionals in health sciences.

  • RAE19 - It will apply specific methods and techniques that take into account the implications of orthopedics in physiotherapy, reflected therapeutic techniques, as well as other methods whose safety and effectiveness are proven according to the state of development of science, in practical seminars and external academic practices.

  • RAE25 - You will integrate the knowledge, skills, attitudes and values acquired in all the subjects, carrying out pre-professional external academic practices in the form of an independent clinical rotation and with a final evaluation in health centers, hospitals and other care centers, enabling you to comprehensive and effective physiotherapy care.

Presentation of the subject

This course offers a theoretical and practical approach to neurodynamic techniques applied in the context of neuromusculoskeletal disorders as well as the influence that the appearance of myofascial trigger points can have in these clinical syndromes. The student will acquire knowledge about the pathophysiology of the peripheral nervous system, the biomechanical and neurophysiological principles of neural mobilization, as well as the bases for clinical evaluation and treatment using neurodynamic tests. A critical and evidence-based vision will be encouraged for the integration of these techniques in physiotherapeutic practice.

The distribution of the theoretical and/or practical content of the subject can be consulted in the schedule and sections of the corresponding virtual classroom before it starts.

This subject aims to introduce the gender perspective in its content and development. In addition, the objectives are aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda of the United Nations.

The classroom (physical or virtual) is a safe space, free of sexist, racist, homophobic, transphobic and discriminatory attitudes, either towards students or towards teachers. We trust that together we can create a safe space where we can make mistakes and learn without having to suffer prejudice from others.

Activities and evaluation system

This subject may consider the following indicators detailed in the table in its assessment proposal:

Evaluation system Minimum weighting Weighting maximum
SE1. Electronic portfolio 10 % 40 %
SE2. Oral presentation 20 % 50 %
SE3. Exam 30 % 60 %
SE4. Self evaluation 5% 30 %
SE5. Peer evaluation (2P2) or co-evaluation 5% 30 %

The specific evaluation proposal for each subject will be defined in the "Learning Plan" document, which will be available to students in the subject's virtual classroom.

A quantitative (0 to 10) and qualitative grading system is used (fail, pass, outstanding, excellent, honors) according to RD 1125/2003. The subjects will have assessment and recovery activities in accordance with the teaching guide and the subject's learning plan, published in its virtual classroom and which will establish the necessary requirements to be able to participate.

In accordance with current UPF regulations, all students who, having participated in the learning and assessment activities during the term, have obtained the grade of failing the corresponding subject in the quarterly assessment may participate in the Recovery process. Those who have not participated in the learning and assessment activities or have waived the assessment will not be able to participate. If the grade is "not presented", they will not be able to opt for recovery and therefore the subject must be taken again in its entirety in the following academic year.

In the event of copying, plagiarism or illegitimate use of generative artificial intelligence in any evaluation activity, the Evaluation Regulations for Undergraduate and Master's Degree courses of the TecnoCampus University Center must be consulted.

If signs of fraud are detected, including the improper use of generative artificial intelligence tools, the subject's teaching staff may call the student for an individual interview with the aim of verifying authorship. The use of artificial intelligence (AI) in this subject is regulated in the Learning Plan. It should be consulted to find out the specific conditions of use.

Assistance and Rules of Conduct:

Attendance at class without respecting the basic rules of hygiene and uniformity in dress may be sanctioned. During classroom practices and especially during evaluation tests, students may not wear objects that may interfere with the execution of techniques, such as rings, watches, bracelets, long earrings, etc. Likewise, hand hygiene will be essential, with short, clean, unpainted nails.

Given the practical nature of the classes and to facilitate the correct performance of the practical procedures, it will be necessary to wear appropriate clothing such as shorts, a top and a practice polo shirt.

It will be essential to comply with an attendance of no less than 80% of the hours in order to pass the subject. In case of non-compliance with this rule, the subject will be suspended and you will have to re-enroll in the following academic year.
