Competencies / Learning Outcomes

Specific skills
  • RAE6 - You will analyze the anatomical structures and the physiological changes that occur in people as a result of the interventions of the physiotherapy professional, in their application in the specific subjects.

  • RAE11 - You will identify the evaluation concepts, the foundations and the theoretical bases in the development of physiotherapeutic methods and procedures by applying them in the scientific and professional fields.

  • RAE12 - You will apply the assessment of functionality, disability and health and its international classification, as well as intervention models in physiotherapy in your healthcare practice during the practical seminars.

  • RAE13 - You will be able to identify, following the criteria of physiotherapeutic practice, the functional state of the user, considering the physical, psychological and social aspects of this.

  • RAE14 - You will be able to apply manual and instrumental assessment methods and procedures in Physiotherapy and Physical Rehabilitation, evaluating the result and its effectiveness in a teaching activity proposal.

  • RAE17 - You will be able to identify the patient/user situation through a diagnosis of physiotherapy care, planning the interventions, and evaluating their effectiveness in a cooperative work environment with other professionals in health sciences.

  • RAE20 - Following an analysis, he will apply movement as a therapeutic measure, according to ergonomic and anthropometric principles in the patient/user in his process, promoting his participation during the practical seminars.

  • RAE21 - You will identify the fundamental concepts of health and the function performed by the physiotherapist in the healthcare system by identifying dysfunctions related to physiotherapy in the areas of Primary Care, Specialized and Occupational Health.

Presentation of the subject

The subject of Semiology and technology for evaluation is a compulsory training within the degree of Physiotherapy. It is a theoretical-practical subject.

Physiotherapy care is fundamental in the different aspects of professional intervention, both when the aim is prevention or when trying to recover or modify an altered body function. In this sense, the purpose of this subject is for the student to know and understand the process of clinical reasoning in order to make an appropriate diagnosis in physiotherapy. Also, the subject aims for the student to know and develop the appropriate skills to be able to carry out the main clinical functional assessment tests applied to the most frequent musculoskeletal pathologies; identifying tools and functional balances validated and recognized internationally.

The subject does not require any prerequisite for passing subjects by the student.

The distribution of the theoretical and/or practical content of the subject can be consulted in the schedule and sections of the corresponding virtual classroom before it starts.

This subject aims to introduce the gender perspective in its content and development. In addition, the objectives are aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda of the United Nations.

The classroom (physical or virtual) is a safe space, free of sexist, racist, homophobic, transphobic and discriminatory attitudes, either towards students or towards teachers. We trust that together we can create a safe space where we can make mistakes and learn without having to suffer prejudice from others.

Activities and evaluation system

This subject may consider the following indicators detailed in the following table in its evaluation proposal:

Stma of evaluation Minimum weighting Maximum weighting
SE1. Electronic portfolio 10 % 40 %
SE2. Oral presentation 20 % 50 %
SE3.Examination 30 % 60 %
SE4.Self-assessment 5% 30 %
SE5. Peer assessment (2P2) or co-assessment 5% 30 %

A system of quantitative (from 0 to 10) and qualitative (suspended, approved, notable, excellent, honorary registration) is used according to RD 1125/2003.

The subjects will have evaluation and recovery activities in accordance with the teaching guide and the subject's learning plan, published in their virtual classroom and which will establish the necessary requirements to be able to participate.

In accordance with current UPF regulations, all students who, having participated in the learning and assessment activities during the term, have obtained a failing grade for the corresponding subject in the quarterly assessment may participate in the recovery process . Those who have not participated in the learning and assessment activities or who have waived the assessment will not be able to participate. If the grade is "not submitted", you will not be able to opt for recovery and therefore the subject will have to be taken again in its entirety in the following academic year.

In the event of copying or plagiarism in any assessment activity, please consult the TecnoCampus University Centre's Assessment Regulations for Undergraduate and Master's Degree Courses. The use of artificial intelligence (AI) in this subject is regulated in the Learning Plan. Please consult it to find out the specific conditions of use.

Assistance and Rules of Conduct

Attendance to class without considering, in a repeated manner, the basic rules of hygiene and uniformity may be subject to a penalty, for all its effects, on the final grade obtained in the subject. This requirement and its conditions will be detailed in the document of the evaluation plan of the subject.

During classroom practices and especially during evaluation tests, students may not wear objects that may interfere with the execution of the requested procedures, such as rings, watches, bracelets, earrings, etc. Likewise, hand hygiene will be essential with nails cut short and clean without painting.

Given the practical nature of the classes and to facilitate the correct execution of the various manual practical procedures, it will be necessary to wear appropriate clothing such as shorts, a practice polo shirt and a top.

It will be an essential requirement to comply with the minimum attendance indicated in the evaluation plan document. Failure to comply with this requirement will result in failing the subject and the obligation to take it the following academic year.
