General and theoretical study of the interrelationship between transport and tourism: the evolution of different types of transport and transport policies themselves in the EU and the rest of the world. Analysis of the impact of transport policies versus tourist destinations. Disruptors of transport and tourism

 The classroom (physical or virtual) is a safe space, free of sexist, racist, homophobic, transphobic and discriminatory attitudes, either towards students or teachers. We trust that together we can create a safe space where we can make mistakes and learn without having to suffer the prejudices of others.

Introductory Topic: Globalization, Transport and Tourism.

Topic 1. Factors for choosing a means of transport Real travel time, price, comfort, autonomy, safety (of the companies and planes themselves, in the face of terrorist attacks, can a plane disappear without a trace?, usefulness of black boxes), geographical limits, environmental impact. Analysis of the weaknesses and strengths of the different means of transport

Topic 2. Economic and social return of transport infrastructures. High-speed rail, air transport and road transport are analyzed. Intermodality of transport. Urban Corridors. Notions of Safety in Transport.

Topic 3. Railway Analysis of the problems of infrastructure and the road network. Technological innovations (high speed and magnetic levitation trains). Liberalization process and free competition. Competition with air transport. Tourist trains

Topic 4. Water transport Motorways of the sea. Infrastructure analysis. Technological innovations. Competencies with other means of transport. Cruises (Barcelona base port)

Topic 5. Road transport Analysis of the coach and automobile sector. Technological innovations (vehicle and tunnel safety, buses, autonomous vehicles). Sustainable mobility (alternative fuels)

Topic 6. Commercial aviation International organizations (IATA, ICAO) and their agreements or conventions (Warsaw, Chicago, Montreal, freedoms of the air). Airplanes (Subsonic and supersonic). Alternative fuels. Processes of liberalization and business concentration (alliances). The phenomenon of Low Cost.

Topic 7. Air infrastructures Characteristics of airports. Main Spanish airports under public management (AENA). Airport collapse. Analysis of the most innovative airports in the world

Topic 8. The main bodies that regulate passenger air transport and their functions.

Topic 9. The tourist transport market. Analysis of the economics of supply and demand

Topic 10.-Externalities of tourist transport I. Congestion. The role of tourism in the congestion of different forms of traffic

Topic 11. Externalities of tourist transport II. Environmental effects. The contribution of tourist transport to climate change and emission mitigation policies

The Final grade will be composed of Continuous Assessment and a Final Exam as detailed below:

• 40%: Activities and active participation:

Continuous assessment activities scheduled throughout the course (Infographics to present, Analysis of readings, information research, among others).

Overall work of the subject. Group evaluation. It will consist of carrying out a work where the topics seen in the subject are applied. It will be developed as the theoretical topics are given.

• 10%: Assistance

• 50%: Final test type exam (there could be open questions).
• You must obtain a minimum of 5 points in the Final Exam to make an average.

Retake. If the student has failed the Final Exam or the Final Grade, they may take the Retake Exam.

Students who did not appear for the regular exam (the Final Exam) will not be able to be evaluated, nor will their grades be increased.

If you go for retake and pass this exam, the final grade will be: 50% Retake Exam and 50% Continuous Assessment.
