Description

The main axis of the subject has the correct locution and recording in voice studio for audiovisual products of all kinds.

Great importance is given to aspects such as pronunciation, breathing, rhythm, punctuation. Sufficiency and autonomy are also considered essential to use the usual technological elements for digital recording.

Great emphasis will be placed on the ability to analyze a text and extract all the dramatic interpretive possibilities to give it credibility and understanding.

Concepts worked on in Audio and Sound, Sound Production and Audio Post-Production are consolidated through both praxis and analysis.

At the end of the course the student will be able to produce, direct, correct and speak with solvency texts for audiovisual products.

This subject has methodological and digital resources to make possible its continuity in non-contact mode in the case of being necessary for reasons related to the Covid-19.
In this way, the achievement of the same knowledge and skills that are specified in this teaching plan will be ensured.

Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student must be able to:

LO1. Manipulate the various formats of recording and sound support and make the corresponding format changes.

LO2. Know how to sound an audiovisual product (video clip, short, advertisement, etc.)

LO3. Recognize the main characteristics and elements of the radio environment

LO4. Use voice, silence, sound effects and music in a radio space.

LO5. Use sound recording techniques in a wide range of situations.

LO6. Use equalization and compression parameters.

LO7. Identify and correct noise generated by recording systems

LO8. Solve the mastering of a recording.

LO9. Apply sound analysis tools.

LO10. Creatively look for the sound elements needed for your goal and apply creativity.

LO11. Work with Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) and Virtual Studio

LO12. Make your own personal study based on DAW and / or Virtual study.

LO13. Create your own sounds and sound textures for both music and special effects.

In addition, the student will also achieve the following learning outcomes:

RAC1. Narrate a documentary, speak a commercial video, speak a spot, speak a wedge and know enough technique to dub a sequence of a movie or TV series.

RAC2. Execute an expressive and comprehensive locution, in any of the areas worked on

RAC3. Convey information, ideas, problems and solutions effectively

RAC4. Advise and guide the team of professionals who work collaboratively in the world of communication.

RAC5. Contribute to the qualitative improvement of the whole audiovisual product

Working methodology

The subject is structured in 2 hours per week of theory contents, in large group, and 2 hours per week of practical activities, in small groups, in the technical studies of the Tecnocampus. In the theoretical classes the teacher presents concepts and examples encouraging the participation of students in direct application of the concepts described. In the practical classes the students will work in team assuming the different necessary roles in a sound production.

Class attendance, both theoretical and practical, is not mandatory, but requires a minimum attendance of 70%. An overall attendance lower than this percentage will not allow access to the exam and the subject will be given for suspension. In the event of non-attendance for a justified reason, documentation must be submitted to prove this.

Course materials will be posted on the virtual campus. Notices to students will also be made by this means; it is the student's responsibility to consult this virtual space regularly.

For a correct use of the subject the student must foresee a total dedication of 120 hours (hours of class + dedication out of class).

This course, due to the situation generated by COVID, some sessions may be done in hybrid format: face-to-face and online (via streaming). This will allow students to rotate to face-to-face classes, respecting the maximum number of students per classroom imposed by the distance measures. When they are not in contact, they will be able to follow the class online from home.

With regard to internship sessions in smaller spaces (such as laboratories, studios or sets), where appropriate, work will be carried out simultaneously in several spaces in order to ensure that the conditions established by the safety protocols are met.

Evaluation system

The evaluation of the subject is based on the following structure:

Activity 6: Individual works and portfolio of locution activities (40% of the overall mark). It must be delivered within the indicated period. Failure to deliver within the deadline will have a rating of "Not Presented"

Activity 7: Final exam (50% of the overall mark)

Activity 8: Participation (10% of the overall grade)

A minimum grade of 5 in the final exam is required to add up the rest of the activities; in case of not reaching this mark, the subject will be suspended and it will be necessary to go to recovery exam. The resit exam also requires a minimum grade of 5 before applying the same weighting.

It will not be possible to recover the activities of the practical part nor to do additional works to improve note. The weight of the practical activities will be maintained in the calculation of the final mark of the students who make the recovery.

Class attendance of not less than 70% is required. In case of non-compliance, the student will not be able to take the exam, without the possibility of recovery.
