Pedro Gómez, Manel Royo and Martí Carles of Kriter Software have talked about 'Cloud Computing' strategies with the students of the Degree in Computer Engineering of the Polytechnic University School of Mataró within the framework of the 'Talk & Beer', meetings between students and companies at the Tecnocampus.

A Talk & Beer is an informal get-together between business people, teachers and students having a drink in the Tecnocampus bar.

Today’s Talk & Beer was of the ‘Draft’ type, a ‘sip’ of knowledge and experience from a company that shares and debates with students and teachers. Today's 'Draft' has analyzed what is light and shadow - cloud and fog in the words of Pedro Gómez - in the new information systems architecture called 'Cloud Computing'.

Cloud Computing is a new way of developing Internet-based applications where programs and data are not on corporate computers but on the computers of large hosting companies such as Amazon, IBM, Microsoft or Oracle. . All you need on the PC is a browser or Internet browser and all the applications - mail, office tools, accounting software and any other type of application - reside and run on a remote computer, run in the cloud 'which is the metaphor to explain that they run somewhere on the Web that the user does not need to know.

According to Pedro Gómez, "The Internet is a technology that has come to stay; its prominence and the uses we will make of it on its platform will only grow in the future. Cloud Computing, with all its goodness , -cloud-, but also of fog, of uncertainty, of questions, is an upward strategy to build the information systems of the future ".

According to Manel Royo, "Cloud Computing leads to a new model of services, where everything needed for a computer is managed as a service I'm going to look for somewhere in the cloud. This new architecture is based on three layers: software as a service or SaaS, platform as a service or PaaS and infrastructure as a service or IaaS. "

Finally, Martí Carles explained the need for new business models for the computer industry if this new paradigm of building computer systems is extended and the need to change a market model based on the payment of licenses to a new market based on payment for services.

The final part of Talk & Beer discussed the situation and future of computing in the current times of crisis; for Pedro Gómez "In the computer market the crisis is over".
