The TecnocampusMataró-Maresme Foundation presented its incubation model at the International Conference of business incubators that took place last Thursday, May 5 in Manresa  

The seminar was organized by Manresa City Council, Barcelona Provincial Council as part of the FEDER Catalonia 2007-2013 project and the Eurotowns network, which currently chairs the capital of Bages.

The aim of the day was to reflect on current public policies to promote entrepreneurship and the creation of companies paying special attention to business incubators-incubators, while exchanging experiences of good practices from different cities in Catalonia and other European Union countries.

The first part of the day focused on the exchange of good practices. The cities of Gavlë and Varberg in Sweden, which are part of the Eurotowns Network, presented their incubator models: Movexum (Gavlë) and the Alexanderson Institute in Varverg.

Regarding the province of Barcelona, ​​the Tecnocampus Mataró-Maresme was presented by Luz Fernández Head of business services of TCM, the experience of Barcelona Activa and the new nursery-incubator of the CEDEM of the City Council of Manresa.

The main aspects of the different exhibitions on incubators and their management were: the importance of the technical team and to promote internationalization, communication and advertising; networking and common meeting spaces to foster this interrelationship; to deal with the innovation of the possible companies that settle there in a broad sense; take into account the experience of established entrepreneurs to tutor new projects, and the link with the university.

The day had about a hundred attendees from local bodies in the province of Barcelona and also members of the Eurotowns network (European network composed of cities with a population of between 50.000 and 250.000 inhabitants).

The session ended with a participatory debate that focused on the four critical elements to work to achieve success with these infrastructures: the short, medium and long term strategy, the catalog of services to be offered, the construction process, and the its marketing and communication.
