Last November, TecnoCampus participated in the international mission to Belgium that Mataró City Council promoted within the framework of the municipal strategy “Mataró, Caring City”.
The trip, organized by the Opportunities Office of Mataró City Council with the support of the Barcelona Provincial Council, aimed to learn about European projects linked to health and the care economy, seek strategic alliances and strengthen the international positioning of the city and its innovation ecosystem.
The delegation, led by the councilor for Inclusive and Healthy City, Laura Seijo and the city council's technical team (Alejandra Lara, Júlia Sánchez and Lídia Nadal), also had the participation of some of the member entities of the Mataró Cuida – Carecitylab space, including TecnoCampus, with the participation of Yolanda Fernández, head of business growth in the transfer, innovation and business department; Carles Fradera, territorial manager of Eurecat; David Verde, coordinator of the Innovation Agency of the Jordi Gol i Gurina University Institute Foundation for Research in Primary Health Care; and Alfred Batet, general director of the Hospital Foundation, in addition to several technicians from the City Council. Bringing European experiences closer to the Mataró Cuida space model - CareCityLab During the construction and design process of the future Mataró Cuida–CareCityLab space, central node of the “Mataró, Caring City” strategy, the municipality was inspired by several European references in the field of social and health care. The mission has now allowed us to visit some of these innovative models in situ.
Among the institutions visited are: the LivingLab In4Care, the Health Campus Limburg DC (Diepenbeek), the Innovation Playground (Ghent), the LiCalab (Geel), the Provincial Health Technology Cluster of Flanders or the Center of Expertise in Care and Wellbeing of the Thomas More University of Applied Sciences. These spaces, which combine applied research, innovation and collaboration between public and private agents, have been a source of inspiration for the partners of the Espai Mataró Cuida - CareCityLab, and the visit strengthens the link with innovation centers with a long history of creating an impact on the quality of life and care for people.
