The Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities and the State Research Agency have awarded the research group Technology Applied to High Performance and Health (TAARS) a project in the 2024 Knowledge Generation Projects call for an amount of €224.000.
Under the direction of Bruno Fernández-Valdés, professor of the Degree in Physical Activity and Sports Sciences at TecnoCampus and director of the Technology Applied to High Performance and Health research group, the project, entitled "Nonlinear techniques for the evaluation of coordinative fatigue in sport: development, validation and implementation of a web application", aims to develop a digital tool based on inertial sensors (IMU) and advanced movement analysis techniques to understand how fatigue affects coordination and performance.
The project is three years long and has a total funding for this period of 224.000 euros from the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities. It includes 90.000 euros for the development of the project and 134.000 euros for an associated FPI predoctoral contract, which will allow new research talent to be incorporated into the TAARS group. The research team is formed by Carla Pérez-Chirinos Buxadé, Víctor Illera Domínguez, Lluís Albesa Albiol, Xavier Font Aragonès and Víctor Toro Román (TecnoCampus), together with collaborators from INEFC Barcelona, the Autonomous University of Madrid, the Ramon Llull University, the Loyola Andalusia University and the University of the Basque Country.
The project will culminate in the creation of a free web application that will democratize access to advanced movement analysis tools, both in the sports and educational fields.
This initiative consolidates the scientific and technological projection of the TAARS group, promoting knowledge transfer at the intersection of sports science, data analysis and applied technology.
