The Ministry of Science and Innovation, led by Cristina Garmendia (pictured, on the opening day of the TecnoCampus), has officially announced the awarding of the Distinctive City of Science and Innovation to 30 cities across the state. Mataró is one of these chosen cities.

With this badge, the Ministry recognizes the cities that, from the local level, are facilitating the change of economic model. A change of model more based on knowledge, innovation, research and development. Mataró, has been working with this goal for years.

The TecnoCampus Mataró-Maresme science and innovation park or the CETEMMSA technology center, the commitment to economic development policies, ICT or education are projects that are favoring this change of model for which this recognition is now coming. it will involve greater visibility and external projection.

It should be noted that Mataró's candidacy for this distinction received the support of numerous companies and business associations from Mataró and the Maresme, as well as other Catalan organizations.
