A large participation in the network frames this year's edition

The third edition of the Blocs Catalunya Awards, which will be held this year at the TecnoCampus Mataró-Maresme on October 1, has more than 600 registered blogs. Since the launch of the voting period, the "blog awards" website has had 96.000 visits, 400.000 page views and an average of 1.070 visits per day with a maximum peak of 5.380 visits on 21 June.


The voting period opened on June 17 and will end on September 9; during this period it is the same network users who vote and from here the five finalist blocks in each category will emerge. From then on, the jury of this third edition will choose the winner of each category, from the finalists.


This year there have been two important developments in the popular voting system, in relation to the first two editions of the contest. Initially it was not limited to the block as a unit. This option is maintained, of course, but has added the ability to rate the posts posted by bloggers. This rating (“Like”) affects the final result, since every 5 “Likes” means one vote for the blog. This approach responds to the will of STIC.CAT that the Blocs Catalunya Awards are not only an award to the blog according to a diversity of aspects (design, structure, content, periodicity, interaction with readers), but also a recognition to the activity of bloggers as generators of content of interest on the web. In this way both what they say and the space in which they say it are valued.


The jury of this edition will consist of, Ernest Benach (President of the Parliament of Catalonia), Alice Romero (Deputy Mayor of Mataró City Council and president of the Tecnocampus), Judith Lives (journalist of Capgros Comunicació), Miquel Duran (Vice-Rector for Science Policy and Strategic Planning at the University of Girona), Dani Cortijo (winner last edition), Teresa Ferris (Head of the UOC's Letter Program), Anna Nogue (Deputy Director of the Catalan News Agency, ACN), Jordi Iparraguirre (President of the Punt.Cat Foundation), Marc Serena (winner last edition), Albert Castellanos (President of the Catalan Foundation for Research), Alex Araujo (professor of the Tecnocampus of Mataró), Xavier Verdaguer (entrepreneur, CEO of Innovalley) i Trina Milan (President of the Stic.cat Association).


Next Friday, October 1, will be the city of Mataró who will host the award ceremony, which will be held in the new space of the science park and innovation TecnoCampus Mataró-Maresme, which makes a clear commitment to innovation and new technologies .


With a very full day, it will begin in the morning with the second edition of the School Blocks Awards, an event aimed at schools in the Maresme in order to promote and highlight the work that schools are doing in the field of new technologies and the Internet. . A meeting of bloggers from all over Europe and especially from the “Catalan spheres” and a series of presentations on literature and digital publishing with representatives of writers, readers, publishers and booksellers.
