Catalonia's health startups last year raised funding for 445 million euros, 87% more than in 2021, avoiding the financial crisis affecting the sector worldwide, according to a report carried out by the consultancy EY for at the CataloniaBio & HealthTech employer.

The activity in Catalonia was sustained by three large rounds: in the medical technology company Impress (122 million) and in the biotechnology companies Minoryx Therapeutics and SpliceBio, with more than 50 million each. Without these operations, the investment received would have been reduced by 6%. Last year, 35 rounds were closed, one less than in 2021 and seven less than in 2020, but the investments in each round are larger.

Minoryx Therapeutics is based at the TecnoCampus and focuses its activity on the development of drugs for minority diseases.
