El TecnoCampus hosted the XIX CIRIEC-Spain Congress, international congress of researchers in social and cooperative economy, during April 19, 20 and 21. Under the title "The role of the Social Economy in a scenario of crisis and uncertainty", around 150 academics from twelve different countries debated the role of the social economy in the current global social and economic situation.

The TecnoCampus Chair of Social Economy played a fundamental role in the organization of the symposium, which acted as host. Eloi Serrano, director of the department, was the president of the congress and welcomed the participants in the opening plenary session.

Four TecnoCampus researchers who are part of the Department of Social Economy presented several academic papers at the congress.

On Thursday afternoon it was the turn, first of all, of professors Ismael Hernández and Eloi Serrano, with the work "The financing of cooperatives: present situation and challenges for the future", within the workshop "Entrepreneurship in social economy through of university spin-offs and start-ups". Next, fellow professor Miguel Guillén Burguillos presented the communication "The public procurement of cooperatives by the Generalitat de Catalunya (2017-2021)", as part of the workshop "Public-private community collaboration".
