During 2010 UPCnet carried out a study in the field of local administration called “map of innovation in local administration”. A group of Town Councils took part in this study, particularly those municipalities where the UPC has a university campus. The initial objectives of this study were:
• Find out how local governments drive innovation, what challenges they face, in what areas and with what tools, especially from the perspective of the support that ICTs can give in this process,
• Know how to export the knowledge and experience lived at the UPC.

As a result of this study, four areas of innovation are detected:
• Economic promotion, as a key element to help companies in the municipality to create wealth and sustainability.
• Encourage actions / services of collaboration between the public and private environment.
• Encourage participation and make improvements to services aimed at the citizen (City 2.0).
• To improve the efficiency in the internal processes of the City councils, with the application of information technologies.

Once the study has been carried out, UPCnet will close this project with a round table where the conclusions of the study will be presented and where the various municipalities will be able to present their project first hand.

The round table will be held the next day February 24thra the building's assembly hall vertex, from 10:00 a.m. to 14:00 p.m. The agenda and the members attending the table are:
