The day "How would you make a more caring city?", a co-creation event organized by TecnoCampus and Mataró City Council held last March 30, chose a proposal to normalize the stage of death and mourning, from childhood, through stories and cartoons.

Around 70 citizens, mainly people over 60 and students, companies and professionals in the social and health field, participated in the jornate "How would you make a more caring city?", an ideation space organized in the framework of the PECT "Mataró-Maresme: innovation ecosystem for caring cities". The aim was to find innovative solutions to help build a more caring city, with special emphasis on caring for the elderly.

The event was attended by the mayor of Mataró, David Bote, who welcomed the attendees and highlighted the importance of the strategic project Mataró Ciutat Cuidadora, which is part of the PECT and which is working to make of Mataró a city that promotes the well-being of the people who live there, putting their needs at the center of the city's efforts.

After the welcome, the Dream Big Challenge began, an innovation competition where multiple ideas are generated. With teams made up of three and four participants, the ideal space was built to, throughout the morning, create and think of solutions to promote a healthy urban environment that takes better care of people. To give shape to the ideas, the teams went through the ideation, prototyping, validation and communication phase with the support of Xavier Verdaguer, founder of Imagine Creative Center and facilitator of the day.

From all the participating teams, four finalists were chosen, who presented their ideas to the jury and the rest of the attendees at the day. A jury made up of two representatives of the TecnoCampus and two representatives of the Mataró City Council chose the winning proposal. Team 3.0 was the winning team, with a proposal to normalize the stage of death and grief, from childhood and throughout life, through stories and cartoons.

To end the day, the councilor for Social Welfare and Health Promotion, Laura Seijo, presented the gift to the winning team and closed the event by emphasizing the importance of creating spaces for dialogue and reflection, in addition to emphasize the importance of all ideas. Finally he thanked all the participants for their attendance. The ideation day "How would you make a more caring city?" it is part of the PECT project of "Mataró-Maresme: innovation ecosystem for caring cities" and is co-financed by the Generalitat de Catalunya.
