A triumphant, Joan Jordi Miralles builds a work of fiction based on his own experiences in La Masia, where he lived, as part of the Barça basketball team, between the ages of 13 and 17. The novel is set in the 90s, the supposed golden age of the Barça youth team, but what is described is an oppressive and hostile environment.

A story of physical and psychological abuse, by young people who live adolescence with a pressure that sinks them, in a space where the total lack of adult supervision has irreversible consequences. The novel is a story of overcoming, personal rise and fall, but it also functions as an x-ray into the (darker) bowels of FC Barcelona, ​​an institution known and loved around the world. triumphant focus on it bullying, suffocating relationships and toxic behaviors among teenagers. That is why the events narrated in the novel can easily be transferred to the reality that can be experienced in certain situations in high schools and other centers where young people and teenagers live together.

Synopsis

Ulisses is 13 years old and has just signed for Barça, so he moves to La Masia, where he hopes to achieve his dream of becoming a professional player. From this moment, the illusion of his life turns into a nightmare. triumphant is a novel that causes an almost physical effect on the reader, a book that questions the predatory values ​​on which elite sport is based, and much of our society.

The author

Joan Jordi Miralles is PDI in the Audiovisual Media Degree at TecnoCampus, where he teaches subjects such as Serial Fiction, Filmmaking Techniques, Contemporary Television Production and Interactive Screenplay. In the literary field, he has published novels The Most High (Andròmina prize, Tres i Quatre, 2005), The whale's uterus (Vila de Lloseta award, Moll, 2010), A wonderful woman (LaBreu, 2014) and Agglutination (Joanot Martorell prize, Edicions 62, 2018), in addition to the volumes of long stories The intimacy of beasts (Marian Vayreda prize, Empúries, 2017) i Marginality (Weeds, 2021). His stories have taken part in various media and in anthologies, including Vanishing points (Weeds, 2015) i leech (AdiA, 2017). In theater, he has published plays This is Austria (Pare Colom Mediterranean Theater Award, Leonard Muntaner, 2012) i Happy children (Weeds, 2016).
