A TecnoCampus team wins the second prize in the Start-UPFlama program

Start-UPFlama is a support program for the creation of innovative companies co-organized by Pompeu Fabra University and TecnoCampus, with cash prizes, legal services and incubation for the best projects. The four winning teams this year were EMMA from TecnoCampus, and SCRIPTIA, DONNOVA and AUXI from UPF.

A TecnoCampus team wins the second prize in the Start-UPFlama program

La pitch competition took place at the Campus de la Comunicació-Poblenou Auditorium on May 13 and began with the welcome from the Vice-Rector for Knowledge Transfer of Pompeu Fabra University, Vanesa Daza, and the General Director of TecnoCampus, Josep Lluís Checa. Afterwards, Álvaro Monterrubio, CEO & Co-Funder of Hirevoice, shared his entrepreneurial experience as an alumni of Start-UPFlama, with inspiration and recommendations for the participating teams. 

Thirteen projects, four of which were created by TecnoCampus students, then participated in the competition. The four winners were:

  • First Prize, of 6.000 euros: SCRIPTIA, which proposes a digital platform for online publication and reading that seeks to democratize access to the publishing market and professionalize emerging authors, with Martí Esquius and Axel del Val (Degree in Telecommunications Network Engineering) and Jan Esquius (Double Degree in Law and ADE / Economics) as members of the team.
  • Second Prize, 3.000 euros: EMMA, by Manel Mestres, a student of the Degree in Industrial Organization Engineering at TecnoCampus. It is a project that addresses the challenge of eating well and offers kits with the right ingredients, utensils and recipes to carry out gastronomic experiences focused on pleasure, local produce and gastronomic quality.
  • Third prize, 2.000 euros: DONNOVA, which proposes a silicone ring coated with an innovative hydrogel for the treatment of vaginal atrophy, which affects the quality of life of many women with menopause, formed by Carla Alabau, Alba Barnés, Jana Casau, María Cortés, Leire Cortazar and Carla Pairés, all from the Degree in Biomedical Engineering. 
  • Audience Award, worth 1.000 euros: AUXI, which proposes a platform that connects university students with families to offer domestic support, reinforcing trust and neighborhood proximity, by Joan Boix and Zoe Escobar, both from the Business Sciences and Management degree. 

The three jury prizes will also receive 2.000 euros in services from Herrero & Asociados (H&A), a law firm specializing in legal and technical advice on industrial and intellectual property. 

In addition to the awarded project, TecnoCampus students grouped in the FITABLE projects (Gerard Pardiña and Nil Andreu), FISIOTECH (Ramon Llull Rosselló and Adrià Mora) and NINTEC SOLUTIONS (Joel Auferil and Marc López) have also participated in this edition of UPFlama. 

Start-UPFlama is not over yet, because one member of each of the thirteen teams will attend the South Summit in Madrid from June 3 to 5 and the three winning teams will have access to tutorials, as well as access to the TecnoCampus pre-incubator and UPF spaces, to continue developing their entrepreneurial initiatives. 

The details for the call for the sixth edition of this joint program between Pompeu Fabra University and TecnoCampus will be announced soon.
