The upcoming Manga Barcelona fair, which will be held from 5 to 8 December at the Montjuïc site of Fira de Barcelona, will host an exhibition dedicated to Japanese video games and their relationship with manga and anime. This exhibition, co-organised by Fundación Japón, is curated by Víctor Navarro, full professor in the degrees in Design and Production of Video Games and Audiovisual Media, together with Marçal Mora and Alejandro Rodríguez.
The exhibition continues the work of the cycle Gêmu: Perspectives on the Japanese game, curated by Navarro for Fundación Japón since 2021, and which has already given rise to two previous exhibitions: Gêmu: Japanese video game and visual culture, in Veranos de la Villa (Madrid, 2024) and CineGêmu: Fantasy and terror in the Japanese game, at the Donostia Fantastic and Horror Film Week (2025).
The exhibition is accompanied by a talk by Víctor Navarro and Alejandro Rodríguez on Saturday, December 6th at 18 p.m. in the Manga Academy room. This exhibition proposes a journey through the imagination of gēmu, especially in their dialogues and exchanges with manga, where authors, franchises, characters, genres and even places intersect.
