Mataró has one long cooperative career and today hosted a conference at the TecnoCampus Park by the new Director General of Social and Cooperative Economy and Autonomous Work of the Generalitat, Xavier Lopez, in the framework of the cycle of conferences of Economy and Values that organizes the association values with the support of the Foundation TecnoCampus Mataró-Maresme.

López pointed out that cooperatives must make a commitment to competitiveness, to grow and to maintain the innovative spirit that characterizes them. He also pointed out that one of the advantages they enjoy is the commitment of the cooperative members, their ability to adapt to difficult circumstances (because they also enjoy the benefits when things are going well, he pointed out).

He admitted that low capitalization is one of the problems of cooperatives, a problem that has been exacerbated by the crisis and the difficulty of obtaining financing. And from the corner of the strong points, he pointed out the proximity, which allows the knowledge of the project in which it is invested.

The debate, given López's recent appointment, has focused on the role of the administration. One of the attendees, a cooperativist, asked the administration to be agile in payments, an essential factor for cooperatives.
