Final report

As part of the call for grants to support the scientific activity of research groups in Catalonia (SGR-Cat 2021), regulated in DOGC no. 8634 of 25.03.2022, file number SGR-01604", the GRACIS research group of the TecnoCampus has received funding to hire a person with a pre-doctoral contract to carry out a research project with the aim of obtaining a doctorate.

The purpose of this recruitment is to promote research in the field of health sciences through the completion of a doctoral thesis within the framework of the research lines of the GRACIS group of the TecnoCampus.

The purpose of this contract is to carry out research activities within the framework of a project as well as all those activities related to the acquisition of skills and abilities necessary to obtain the official title of Doctor.

The hired person must simultaneously carry out research tasks in a project or a specific and innovative line of research and, at the same time, the integral activities of the doctoral program leading to the acquisition of the skills and abilities necessary to obtain the official university degree of doctorate, without being able to require him to carry out any other activity that distorts the research and training purpose of the contract.

The TecnoCampus GRACIS research group has been working for many years in the field of ageing, dependency and family networks. As a result of this work, projects, research studies and doctoral theses have been developed and more recently, the Chair of Aging and Quality of Life has been created.

This group of health and social professionals wants to delve into very prevalent problems in our society and find strategies that help us improve people's health and quality of life.

The research lines of the TecnoCampus GRACIS group are:

  • Aging and quality of life
  • Innovation in health
  • Comprehensive and non-pharmacological assessment and intervention in physiotherapy
  • Gender and health

BASIC GUIDELINES OF THE CALL

During the selection process, the principles of competition, suitability and publicity will be respected. All citizens have the right to access to employment in accordance with the constitutional principles of equality, merit and ability.

In the selection process:

  • Non-discrimination will be guaranteed.
  • Agility will be ensured, without prejudice to objectivity, in the selection processes.
  • The evaluation of the person will be carried out based on the requirements of the job, with objectivity, transparency and respecting the principle of equal opportunities.
  • The selection will be based on the merit and competencies for the development of the job to be provided and not on the issue of gender, age or personal or family circumstances.
  • The knowledge and suitability of the person in the workplace will be measured by precise and comparable parameters and indicators that will be established prior to the start of the selection process.

FUNCTIONS TO BE DEVELOPED       

  1. Participate in the meetings, conferences and other activities of the GRACIS research group of the TecnoCampus, in order to present the research activities carried out as part of the doctoral thesis.
  2. Carry out teaching support tasks assigned to him.
  3. Carry out all those tasks related to the research activity that are assigned to him.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  1. Have academic training in the field of health sciences. The minimum grade of the academic record of degree or bachelor's studies must be equal to or higher than 7,50 (scale from 0 to 10), calculated in accordance with the criteria specified in RD1125/2003, of September 5 In the event that the grading of the academic record uses a scale of 0 to 4, the average grade will be calculated as follows, in accordance with the criteria established by the AGAUR (Agency for the Management of University Grants and Research) for FI predoctoral grants (Aids for the recruitment of new research staff): http://www10.gencat.cat/agaur_web/generados/catala/home/recurs/doc/aplicatiu_calcul_equiv_notes_fi15_cat.xls (It will be necessary to present the degree or the title of the university degree and the scanned academic record).
  2. Fluency in Catalan and Spanish (This requirement will be checked during the interview).
  3. Be in possession of a University Master's degree that allows access to the Doctorate program. (It will be necessary to present the degree or the scanned copy of the university degree)
  4. Not be in possession of a Doctor's degree.
  5. Be able to enroll in PhD programs at the time of recruitment. The person must join one of the research projects of the GRACIS group and have two researchers from the GRACIS group as thesis supervisors.

VALUABLE ASPECTS

Only the CV of people who meet the essential requirements and who have therefore been admitted to participation will be assessed. The maximum score will be 60 points.

  1. Training in research and advanced knowledge in research methodology (This must be specified in the CV). Maximum 30 points
  2. Experience (professional or research) in the research lines of the GRACIS group (This must be specified in the CV). Maximum 10 points
  3. Proficiency in English (Specify this in the CV and present the scanned certificate or degree). Maximum 20 points

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • The dedication of the hired person will be part-time of 15 hours per week in face-to-face mode.
  • The annual amount of the aid is €8.800 gross.
  • The aid is granted for an initial period of 16 months (from September 1, 2023 to December 31, 2024)
  • Possibility of flexible remuneration, social benefits and conciliation policy (flexible working hours, teleworking, etc.).

CONTRACTUAL OBLIGATIONS

  • Be enrolled in the doctoral program before 6 months from the start date of the contract.
  • Follow the PhD program respecting the deadlines and complying with the established requirements, and inform the coordination of the GRACIS research group of the TecnoCampus of any changes or modifications that occur in the process of completing the PhD program.
  • State, in any publication or any other dissemination derived from the thesis, that the beneficiary has received funding from the AGAUR, in accordance with the instructions provided. It will also be necessary to indicate TecnoCampus affiliation in all derived scientific production
  • Accept the dissemination of their work, summaries of scientific publications and other documents, as long as it is not incompatible with the exploitation of the intellectual property of the research results. Any dissemination of the work must be approved by the coordinator of the GRACIS group before publication. 
  • Commit to follow the training that the coordination of the group proposes in order to improve their skills.

The TecnoCampus Foundation will be able to carry out relevant checks on the points we have just set out and on the monitoring of the activity carried out by the contracted person. In the event that the person fails to comply with the obligations established in this call, the employment contract will be terminated.

Likewise, the contract may be terminated for the following reasons:

  1. End of the duration of the funded project.
  2. Breach of the contractual obligations of the candidate selected for the aid.
  3. The resulting impossibility, legal or material, of fulfilling the obligations.
  4. Mutual agreement between the parties.
  5. Other legally established causes.

In the event that the selected person does not fulfill the indicated obligations, abandons or does not start the doctoral studies, has any incompatibility, or in the case of legal or material impossibility, the TecnoCampus Foundation will initiate the resolution procedure, with a hearing of the person concerned.

COMPOSITION OF THE SELECTION COMMITTEE AND EVALUATION OF ADMITTED CANDIDATES

The selection body will adhere to the principles of impartiality and professionalism of its members, and will tend to parity between women and men.

The selection body will also act independently and with technical discretion and will ensure the transparency and proper functioning of the process.

The selection committee will be composed of the following members:

  • President: Dr. Esther Cabrera, Coordinator of the TecnoCampus GRACIS research group.
  • Vocal: Dra. Elisa Sayrol, Academic Director of the TecnoCampus University Center or permanent research teaching staff to whom she delegates.
  • Vocal: Ms. Anna Gabriel, Head of the TecnoCampus project and research support service or technical staff of its service to whom it delegates.

The TecnoCampus personnel management department or technical staff of the service to whom it delegates will act as secretary with voice and without vote. 

The selection committee will assess all accepted candidacies based on:

  1. Curricular evaluation. In this phase, each member of the selection committee will individually and remotely make an assessment, giving a justified one score from 0 to 60 points to each admitted candidate. The secretary of the process will collect in a document the scores of all the members, calculate the arithmetic average obtained by each candidate and draw up the list of finalist candidates, which will be those who have obtained a score equal to or higher than 40 points In the event that there are more than 10 finalist candidates, the president of the selection committee may decide to limit the finalist candidates who proceed to the second interview phase to a maximum of 10, who will be the first 10 with the best score in the curricular assessment.
  2. Interview. Afterwards, the finalist candidates will be interviewed in a face-to-face meeting of the selection committee. Each member will rate with one maximum score of 40 points the presentation of the candidate and the secretary of the commission will calculate the arithmetic mean. In general, the interviews will be concentrated in a single day. The interviews will be assisted by the personnel management department or the service technician to whom he delegates, who will be part of the selection committee with a voice and without a vote.

The final grade will be the sum of the average scores awarded in the curriculum assessment phase and in the interview phase. All finalists with a final score of 49 points or less will be disqualified. If none of the candidates reaches a minimum score of 50 points, the position will be declared vacant.

PHASES OF THE PROCESS AND CALENDAR:

PHASE 1 . Assessment of essential requirements. Once the essential requirements of all candidatures have been assessed, a provisional list of admitted and excluded candidates will first be issued and published and after the objection period of 5 calendar days, the final list of admitted and excluded candidates will be issued and published excluded in relation to these indispensable requirements.

PHASE 2. Curricular assessment. The selection committee only assesses the CVs of the candidates admitted to the final list of PHASE 1. This assessment will not be made public.

PHASE 3. interviews Only candidates who have passed 40 points in PHASE 2 will be invited to an interview.

PHASE 4. Final classification report: A report will be issued and published to propose to the General Management of the TecnoCampus Foundation the classification list of candidates, for their eventual recruitment. These candidates must have passed the total of 50 points once the curricular assessment phase (minimum 40 points) and the interview phase have been completed, and they will be ranked based on the results obtained.

The indicative schedule of the process will be as follows:

  • Publication of the announcement: 11/5/2023
  • Submission of nominations: until 31/5/2023 included. Extended until 2/7/2023 included.
  • Estimated publication of the list of those admitted and excluded from participation: between 1/6/2023 and 8/6/2023
  • Interview with finalist candidates who have passed 40 points in the curriculum assessment phase: From the second half of June 2023 onwards, candidates will be notified of the date of the interview by email or telephone.
