COMPETITION FOR THE SELECTION OF THE ACADEMIC DIRECTORATE OF THE TECNOCAMPUS

The TecnoCampus Foundation is a non-profit organization whose mission is to contribute to economic development and social progress.

The administration of the Foundation is the responsibility of the Board of Trustees, the governing, representative and management body of the Foundation, on which the executive, consultation and auxiliary bodies, whether collegiate or sole proprietorship, depend hierarchically.

The TecnoCampus Foundation owns the TecnoCampus university center, affiliated with Pompeu Fabra University, which offers 18 university degrees and 5 university masters. The center is structured into four departments: technology, business, health and cultural industries.

The Foundation needs to fill the vacancy for the position of director of the TecnoCampus university center; therefore, it is initiating an open and concurrent process. 

Regarding the operation of the process, the regulations for the selection of single-person positions of the TecnoCampus Foundation, approved by the Board of Trustees, apply. These regulations stipulate an open process based on the open competition of merits and capabilities and suitability criteria and establish the composition of the selection committee. 

PROFILE OF CANDIDATES, FUNCTIONS AND DURATION OF THE POSITION

The profile of the candidate sought corresponds to that of an academic linked to one of TecnoCampus' own fields of knowledge with management experience in the university field and with extensive knowledge and experience in academic research and planning. Specifically, special emphasis will be placed on aligning with the challenges posed by the center consolidation project, with a focus on academic quality, a commitment to research and a strong professional and innovative orientation that goes beyond strengthening relations with the industry. and the commitment to the economic and social progress of territory.

To these aspects must be added those typical of a center that has had strong growth in students, academic offer and teaching staff in recent years, which is in a very competitive market and where the institution must deliver a very attractive offer at a private price; opening up new lines of activity in the permanent and continuing education sector.

The term of office is five years, renewable for successive periods of the same duration; in accordance with the regulations for the selection, designation and appointment of single-member bodies of the TecnoCampus Foundation.

MINIMUM PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Accredit the doctoral degree.
  • Provide proof of at least 4 years of experience as a single-person position, in an academic field, in the university sector.
  • Prove knowledge of the English language. This knowledge may be proven by any means that allows verification of the level of proficiency (official certificates, professional or academic experience in work or study environments in English, stays abroad, among others). Verification of this requirement may be carried out by the consulting company responsible for the selection.
  • Knowledge of Catalan. Applicants must have a C1 level of Catalan accreditation or accept the postponement of this accreditation for a period of two years when signing the contract.

EVALUATION OF APPLICATIONS

PHASE 1) EVALUATION OF MERITS

The evaluation committee will assess the merits claimed and duly accredited by the applicants, in accordance with the following criteria. The maximum score will be 10 points. The criteria will be as follows:

  1. Professional experience in the management of material resources and in the management and development of people. Experience in the management of teams and people and material resources will be valued through the description made by the candidates of the functions performed, the volume of resources managed and the main milestones achieved. Experience in budget management, goal work, team building, medium and long-term management planning, among others, will be valued. Max. 2,5 points
  2. Teaching experience and in the areas of academic planning, innovation and quality. Knowledge and experience in the management of undergraduate, master's and postgraduate training offers will be valued; in the design and application of the curricula as well as the candidate's own teaching experience in the university field and especially in the centre's own degrees. Max. 2,5 points
  3. Experience in the field of research and knowledge transfer. Es valorarà l'experiència en recerca del candidat o candidata, a partir de les publicacions, coordinació i direcció de projectes competitius, volum dels recursos gestionats, resultats de la recerca i/o transferència, coneixement del sistema R+D+i català, espanyol and European, participation in research groups. Accreditation by a university quality agency will be assessed. Max. 2 points
  4. Experience in relations between the university, the company, society and the territory. Participation in forums, working groups, advisory boards and in general in areas of relationship between the university and the company will be valued. Leadership or participation in the promotion and management of initiatives for the participation of society and business at the university will be valued. Max. 2 points
  5. Experience in international relations in academia. International experience and language skills will be valued. Max. 1 point

To pass phase 1, a minimum of 6 points must be obtained in the merit assessment. The weighting of the merit assessment phase will be 40% of the overall assessment.

PHASE 2) ASSESSMENT OF COMPETENCES AND SUITABILITY

Candidates who have obtained a minimum of 6 points in phase 1 will be called to a suitability test based on interviews and/or a skills validation test. In the event that more than 10 candidates pass the phase, the Selection Committee may restrict the number of candidacies to be evaluated in the next phase, in accordance with the order of priority of the score obtained. This assessment phase will be carried out by the external expert selection advisor. During the interview, the candidate's skills and suitability in relation to the reality of the centre will be objectively assessed, taking into account the following criteria. The maximum total score will be 10 points.

  1. Ability to lead and energize teams. Lead and coordinate the team, promoting the achievement of goals and results. Encourage the professional growth of team members and mediate in possible conflicts.
  2. Ability to create focused, motivated and high-performing workgroups.
  3. Resource management. Ability to optimize and make profitable the human, technical and economic resources, oriented to the achievement of the objectives.
  4. Innovation. Detect, incorporate or generate ideas for the evolution of the organization or problem solving and collaborate in developing them, implementing them with pragmatism and viability.
  5. Orientation to quality and service to the student. Carry out the work seeking to achieve the results with the highest quality and the shortest possible time, providing a safe and reliable service.
  6. Communication and relationship. Convey messages in a structured, clear and concise way, adapting the language to the situation and the target person either orally or in writing, as well as actively listening.
  7. Flexibility and change managementModify behavior to respond to changing needs, readjusting function priorities, adopting new approaches, and making changes based on demands.
  8. Decision making quickly, although they may be difficult or unpopular, valuing the different possibilities of action.

The results of this phase will be presented by the external advisor to the members of the selection committee in a joint session. Taking into account the arguments of the advisor and their assessments, each member will assess the abilities and suitability of the candidates with scores from 0 to 10.  The weighting of the suitability assessment phase will be 20% of the overall assessment.

PHASE 3) INTERVIEW AND PRESENTATION AND DEFENSE OF THE ACTION PROGRAM

Applicants will be asked to submit a medium-term school project report within a maximum of 7 calendar days, which will contain at least the following sections:

  1. Academic development of the TecnoCampus.
  2. Teaching innovation and quality at the TecnoCampus.
  3. Research and knowledge transfer.
  4. University-Company-Society-Territory relations framework.
  5. International relations framework.
  6. Student service orientation policies.

Candidates will present their school project orally to the Selection Committee and will defend their ability to develop the project. At the end of the presentation, the members of the selection committee will be able to ask the candidate any questions they deem appropriate.

The presentation will have a maximum time of 30 minutes.

The maximum score that can be obtained in this phase will be 10 points, calculated from the scores of the members of the selection committee in the form (public or secret) and time that the chairman of the selection committee deems appropriate.

In order to pass the phase, it will be necessary to obtain at least an average score of the members of the commission equal to or higher than 6.

The weighting of the assessment phase of the interview will be 40% of the assessment.

Applications for participation will be made by submitting a personal letter signed by the candidate accompanied by an extensive CV detailing the claimed merits. All supporting documentation that allows the validation of all merits must be attached (qualifications, diplomas, references to articles or bibliography, official certificates, letters or certificates from responsible third parties referencing jobs, certificates of participation in research groups, international stays or other merits that need to be documented). All references provided will be taken into account and more information may be requested about them.

  1. Forecast publication list of those admitted and excluded from participation: between 27/11/2025 and 6/12/2025
  2. Assessment of merits, skills and suitability: between 7/12/2025 and 15/2/2026
  3. Interview and presentation from second half of February 2026. Finalist candidates entering the interview and presentation phase will be notified by e-mail or telephone of the date of the interview / presentation.
