Skills

Specific skills
  • Calculate and design industrial structures and constructions

Transversal competences
  • T2_That students have the ability to work as members of an interdisciplinary team either as one more member, or performing management tasks, in order to contribute to developing projects with pragmatism and a sense of responsibility, making commitments taking into account available resources

Description

- Provide an introduction to the usual methods used for the design, calculation and sizing of industrial structures designed with different building materials.
- Analysis of structures at a theoretical and practical level by means of software of calculation of structures and of manual way.

Learning outcomes

  • Identifies and evaluates the actions, stresses and stress states to which resistant elements and structures are subjected.
  • Dimension resistant elements, structures and joints.
  • Know different types of structures and methods of analysis.
  • Get to know simulation and calculation programs for resistant elements and structures.

Working methodology

 - The presentation of theoretical concepts and the resolution of exercises will alternate in the classroom. In the lab students will work in groups of two or three students.
- Students will have the necessary documentation to follow the course.
- Students must dedicate the non-contact time to the study, the resolution of exercises, works and reports of practices, as well as the preparation of the written tests.

Contents

  1. Structure theory.
  2. Methods for calculating structures.
  3. Steel and reinforced concrete structures.
  4. Construction and industrial architecture.
  5. General study of industrial structures and facilities.

Learning activities

Face-to-face.

- Theoretical and practical presentation of the principles, laws, concepts and foundations of the different topics included in the subject.
- Carrying out exercises, laboratory practices and elaboration of the corresponding documentation.
- Tutoring and formative evaluation of the learning process.

Not in person.
- Do exercises individually and as a team.
- Individual study, tests and exams.

Evaluation system

- Theoretical part: The formative activities of acquisition of knowledge and of individual study of the student will be evaluated by means of written proofs. (70%).

- Practical part: The formative activities related with the practices of laboratory will evaluate according to the following parameters: assistance to the sessions of practices, personal attitude, individual work developed in the laboratory, realization of individual reports or in team on the activities realized. (30%)

- Like other individual work activities, there will be a check per course through a written test with a value between +10% and -10%.

The teacher reserves the right to evaluate or not evaluate the laboratory practices and/or the final work depending on the evolution and the acquisition of knowledge by the students during the course. In case of not evaluating the practices, the written tests (control + exam) will have a value of 100% on the final grade.

The evaluation will be continuous and will contemplate the proposals and mechanisms of recovery of the knowledge and competitions. All this within the period that comprises the matter.

The qualification will be carried out in accordance with current regulations:

Evaluation method. Weighting.
Exams 70%
Practical work 30%
Practices, control, individual or team work. +10% and -10%
