Skills

Specific skills
  • E5_Design and make an audiovisual product (consisting of still or moving images), taking into account both its technical and artistic aspects, in all its components

  • E8_Design the lighting needs of a space according to its characteristics and the final purpose of the product to be recorded, photography or video

Description

The subject of Photographic Equipment and Techniques responds to a subject that faces on the one hand, the knowledge of the photographic material in the field of the principles of operation, parameters and characteristics, and on the other, the use the use of 'these, applying them to the photographic fact, introducing the techniques that make it possible.

The other important aspect is the analysis of images where the student sees the application of the learned technique.

Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student must be able to:

LO1-Explain and solve the technical needs of fundamental photographic situations. ¿(Competences E5, E8, G4, G5)

LO2-Use indoor and outdoor lighting techniques to determine and control expressive, formal and technical quality. (Competence E8, G2, G5)

LO3-Define and acquire digital photographic images, selecting and composing their content to achieve certain expressive values. (Competences E5, G1, G3, G5)

Complementary results:

RAC1- Have a high capacity for analysis of the photographic image, especially the press, which should allow the student to know the tools needed to do so. (Competences E5, G3, G2, G5)

Working methodology

The sessions of the subject are divided into theoretical sessions (3 hours per week) and laboratory practices (2 hours fortnightly). In addition, the subject provides for the completion of exercises in the time allocated to autonomous learning by students.

Different methodologies are used in the theoretical sessions:

  • Expository class sessions based on the teacher's explanation.
  • Image analysis.

The following methodologies are used in laboratory practices:

  • Taking photographs by students according to statements related to the theoretical level taught. The student applies the concepts explained in class.
  • Carrying out individual and group work (during autonomous learning).

However, depending on the needs of the session, some methodologies may be combined.

Learning activities

Laboratory practices - 20%:

Realization activities in small groups but of individual presentation:

- 4 technical practices related to 4 different aspects of the photographic technique: (shutter, aperture, focal length and exposure). Value 5% each.

Laboratory activities:

- At the end of each practice the student presents a set of photographs corresponding to the statement proposed by the teacher at the beginning of the practice.

The internships are compulsory. A minimum attendance 80% of the time is required to qualify for an internship score.

Support Material:

- Cameras.

- Laboratory: Statements of the activity.

Specific objectives:

- Consolidate knowledge in photographic technique.

Related to learning outcomes: RA1, RA3

Jobs (20%):

Two works carried out autonomously and presented in groups of two.

Work 1 (10%): experimentation with advanced exposure time control techniques introduced prior to the theoretical sessions. In particular we will work with the techniques of sweeping and ligth painting.

Job 2 (10%): You will experiment with the different Flash techniques built into most built-in flashes, i.e. Fill-in, Rear and Slow until you get a set of images requested in the statement.

Support Material:

- Statements of the activity.

Specific objectives:

- Consolidate knowledge in photographic technique.

- Related to learning outcomes: RA1, RA2, RA3

Internships and assignments must be passed with a minimum of 5 to be weighted with the final exam. They are not recoverable.

Examination (60%):

Individual work. Made in class according to calendar

Specific objectives:

- Show the degree of acquisition of the contents taught in the subject.

- Related to learning outcomes: RA1, RA2, RA3, RAC1.

Recoverable activity.

Evaluation system

Continuous assessment (40%):

Laboratory practices (mandatory) 20%
Jobs (20%)
Final exam (60%):

60% exam
To access this weighting it is essential to have achieved an average of 5 in both the continuous assessment and the final exam. If the student has a lower average in one of the parts, he / she does not access this weighting and fails with the grade of the suspended part.
The part of continuous assessment is not recoverable.
The exam part is recoverable in the Recovery Exam. To access the weighted calculation of the grade it is necessary to get a grade of 5 in the recovery.
The statements of the different exercises will be provided throughout the course.
The detection of plagiarism in any of the exercises involves an automatic rating of zero, regardless of other processes or actions that may be undertaken.
