The different subjects that make up the Practicum, guarantee the credits and clinical training hours as set out in Directive 2013 / 55EU of 20 November 2013. It includes all those activities within the teaching-learning process aimed at acquiring skills in the environment professional practice care. During its development, the student participates in clinical practice, as well as in group tutorials that guide him to reflect on clinical practice.

Practicum II is composed of a practical block of external academic practices at physiotherapy centers arranged with private mutuals and/or geriatric homes, and another block of work related to the development of external practices. These works are defined in the virtual classroom of each Practicum, and can be: a memory of practices, reflective seminars, realization of clinical cases, oral defenses of clinical cases and/or infographics.

The clinical tutor will be from the collaborating entity where the student will carry out the internship and its main function will be to ensure the good development of the same respecting its formative purpose. This figure is presented as an indispensable tool in the student's learning during this period. Advice, support and tutoring ensures quality in the process of obtaining theoretical and practical knowledge of the student, in an area of ​​transcendent importance, such as external internships.

The academic tutor will be a university professor who guides the student's learning process always from a teaching perspective and in contact with the clinical tutor.

Both tutors have the function of guaranteeing both the development of the competencies acquired by the students and their evaluation. This is a continuous and formative assessment, where both generic and specific competencies of each of the Internships are assessed.

In this subject, students put into practice the knowledge gained during the theoretical learning of the degree and articulate theory with practice, developing the critical capacity necessary for the training of professional questioners.

The subject of Practicum II has as its main objective the integration in the multidisciplinary team and the approach of alterations of the function and pathologies in different populations, where acute, subacute and chronic injuries of different levels of complexity are treated in order to to promote learning in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of the different pathological processes in which the Physiotherapist works.

LO15: It applies, based on knowledge, the behavioral principles in the context of education, recreation, physical activity and health and sports training.

RA17: Choose behavior modification techniques that can be used in different areas of professional action.

RA20: Identifies the main physical agents used in physiotherapy interventions. Classify them according to their effect and importance and establish order of priorities in their therapeutic application.

RA21: Analyzes the patient's expectations regarding their evolution, demand and needs.

RA22: Establishes the intervention protocol based on the joint negotiation between therapist and patient.

RA23: Performs the physiotherapeutic diagnosis to determine the dysfunctions and disabilities that will require a specific physiotherapy intervention.

RA24: Interacts with other health and physical activity professionals to base an intervention plan based on the specific clinical diagnoses of each of the professions.

LO27: Interacts with medical professionals to gain therapeutic efficacy. Set joint intervention goals.

LO28: Identify the main treatments used in physiotherapy interventions for each of the clinical specialties. Classify them according to their importance and establish order of priorities in their therapeutic application.

RA29: Analyze the effects produced by the interventions. Evaluate benefits and risks and establish an intervention criterion based on the priorities and effects pursued.

RA30: Analyzes the patient's expectations for each of the clinical specialties with respect to their evolution, demands and needs.

RA32: Applies technologies for patient assessment. It incorporates new measuring instruments that facilitate the objectification of interventions. Participates in the validation of assessment tools for incorporation into clinical practice.

RA35: Applies advanced manual and instrumental techniques for the treatment of musculoskeletal disorders. Evaluation of results and adverse effects.

RA41: Acquires bioethical criteria for the treatment of people with health problems.

LO48: It incorporates the communication and dissemination of results as part of the therapeutic intervention process.

RA51: Apply the appropriate therapies in each situation in order to obtain the highest benefit with the greatest effectiveness. It applies the manual and instrumental techniques for the treatment of the dysfunctions derived from the sport practice. Evaluate the results and adverse effects.

RA53: Designs and implements prevention programs through physical activity for subjects with risk factors or chronic pathology.

• External internships at healthcare centers during the period established in the academic calendar and according to the schedule agreed between the center and the Manager of the Internship.

• Presentation of cases by students: completion of individual work during the period of external practices.

• Individual and/or group face-to-face seminars with the academic tutor.

• Non-face-to-face tutoring for which the student will have online resources such as the e-mail of their academic tutor and the UPF intranet.

• Non-face-to-face activities dedicated to the resolution of practical exercises based on data provided by the teacher of the subject to complete the specific training of the Practicum.

The supervised external internships aim for the student to develop and integrate, in a continuous and progressive way, the skills necessary to apply in a real professional context the knowledge acquired in the different subjects that make up the curriculum.

Practicum II integrates all the knowledge, abilities, skills, attitudes and values ​​acquired in all the subjects of the Degree in Physiotherapy and is carried out under the tutelage of qualified physiotherapists with extensive professional experience.

The contents that will be worked on in Practicum II are related to learning the practical model of physiotherapy intervention in the different specialties of the profession, such as prevention, evaluation, specific diagnosis, design of the different intervention protocols and plans personalized performance.

MD2. Case study: acquire learning through the analysis of real or simulated cases.

MD3. Solving exercises and problems: exercise, rehearse and put into practice the previous knowledge.

MD6. Cooperative learning: Foster active and meaningful knowledge cooperatively.

The evaluation of the Practicum is based on the assessment of the skills achieved by the students. Close monitoring of the academic tutor will be carried out continuously by the clinical tutor. This assessment is based on the basic, transversal and specific skills of the Practicum.

The evaluators of the Practicum are the Academic Tutors and the Clinical Tutors.

The final evaluation of the Practicum subject is established through an evaluation rubric carried out by the clinical tutor on the practices carried out in the care centers and other evaluation rubrics for the supervised and corrected individual works by the academic tutor.

Attendance at the entire Practicum in the established periods and times is an essential requirement to be able to be evaluated and pass the subject.

Only 3 days of excused absence will be allowed per internship period. In the event that justified absences exceed the allowed days, the student will suspend the Internship period and the Internship Board will decide the feasibility of recovery in the period established and agreed with the internship center.

Any unexcused lack of attendance at practicals will be considered a No-Show (NP) with suspension of the subject and no right to recovery.

The final grade of the course will consist of three blocks with the following weighting.

External Academic Internships: 65%

Clinical Case: 20%

Report on external practices: 15%

It is necessary to pass each of the parts that make up the subject with a minimum grade of 5.

According to UPF regulations, students will have the option of retrieving subjects that have been graded 'suspended', which are the only ones that can be modified in the retrieval process. In the case of suspending any part, the grade of the parts approved for recovery is saved (in the same academic year) and only the suspended part will have to be evaluated.

A student who does not appear at the internship center, who does not present the evaluable works or who does not appear at the scheduled seminars is considered a “non-presented” (NP) student. In this case, there will be no right to recovery, and the subject will be suspended in its entirety.

La full or partial copy in any of the learning activities it will mean a "Not Presented" in the subject, without option to present in the proof of recovery and without prejudice of the opening of a file for this reason.

In exceptional cases of serious breaches of the rules of external internships, the subject Practicum will be suspended, without the right to recovery, and the Degree Board and the Practicum team, reserves the right without prejudice to process the opening of a record for this reason.

A quantitative (from 0 to 10) and qualitative rating system (suspended, approved, excellent, honors registration) will be used according to RD 1125/2003.

It is recommended to Practicum students that consult and read carefully the Regulations for External Internships of the ESCST and the Dossier of Practicum Students in Physiotherapy which can be accessed through the virtual classroom of each Practicum subject.
