They are born in the framework of collaboration between Renfe, Mataró City Council and TecnoCampus

The program, endowed with €150.000, will support four startups with innovative solutions for the digitization of stations, customer satisfaction, 3D application and other disruptive technologies that help imagine new mobility scenarios.

The TrenLab Antenna Awards are born in the framework of collaboration between Renfe, Mataró City Council and TecnoCampus for the establishment of the first node of a network of antennas specialized in solutions and technology applied to the mobility sector.

This first antenna will be a new space for open innovation and territorial entrepreneurship in sustainable mobility and will open the doors to the TecnoCampus technology park this autumn.

The Antena TrenLab Awards, with an endowment of €150.000, aim to promote innovative solutions that solve the challenges of the railway sector. Each year, four entrepreneurial projects will be chosen to enter a six-month acceleration program that includes the possibility of testing the solution in the territory of Mataró and Maresme.

The call will be open from September 21 to October 27.

We are looking for innovative, technological and sustainable ideas and projects that respond to the following four Renfe challenges:

Operational challenges:

  • Smart Railway Station: aimed at promoting technological solutions at stations that allow Renfe Rodalies customers to be offered more valuable information about their travel environment.
  • Customer Happiness: we are looking for startups that help to improve the constant interaction with the customer and allow to implement improvements in the service and in the daily operations of Renfe Rodalies.
  • 3Drail: Solutions are sought that explore how to introduce 3D printing technology for adoption in the rail sector as a competitive and sustainable alternative to traditional manufacturing methods.

"Keep it Open!": Disruptive startups that develop solutions not yet widely implemented in the rail sector based on new technologies (metaverse, virtual reality, robotics, etc.) or trends (quantum computing, drones, etc.) will be valued.

The awards will be presented at the end of November during the traditional Night of Entrepreneurship, which is held annually in Mataró, organized by TecnoCampus and the city council, and during which the Creatic awards will also be presented.

The four awarded projects will receive the following financial contribution to develop their solutions:

  • Operational challenges, which will have an allocation of €40.000 each. To qualify for this category, you must have a minimum viable product.
  • "Keep it Open!", the winning project will receive €30.000.

They will also have access to the TecnoCampus park and a workplace of their own at the Antena TrenLab headquarters, located in the same park, to develop the winning business project for a maximum of six months and have the possibility to test it. In addition, they will be advised by a network of mobility experts and mentors during the acceleration program that will start on January 15, 2023. Support will be given to the search for investment, as well as to the promotion of the project.

From Thursday, September 29 and until October 20, all interested people will be able to participate in the "Info Days" virtual informative sessions, to resolve possible queries about the call and the associated acceleration program. These will take place every Thursday until the close of the call and will be announced on the web.
