Description


The Final Degree Project (TFG) is a compulsory subject of 10 ECTS that consists of the elaboration, presentation and defense of a research work in the field of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences. The purpose of the TFG is to assess the skills acquired during the Degree and to consolidate the scientific methodology as a tool for the production of knowledge applied to the development and improvement of quality in professional practice. The student will have the direction and supervision of a director during the period that includes / understands the subject. The student must present the TFG and make the defense publicly.

This subject has methodological and digital resources to make possible its continuity in non-contact mode in the event that it is necessary for reasons related to COVID-19. In this way, the achievement of the same knowledge and skills that are specified in this teaching plan will be ensured. TecnoCampus will provide teachers and students with the digital tools necessary to carry out the course, as well as guides and recommendations that facilitate adaptation to the non-contact mode.

Learning outcomes


1. Apply the scientific method to the various fields of physical activity and sports sciences: methodological design, records, databases and statistical analysis.

2. Understand substantial problems in the sciences of physical activity and sport and propose hypotheses to design the empirical strategy for their theoretical demonstration, which would lead to the best resolution of the problems identified.

3. Incorporate new technologies for obtaining records and processing information and images into physical activity and sport: formulate projects that integrate the various operations.

4. Use specific English terminology related to technology, information and statistics applied to physical activity and sport: data tables, graphs, diagrams, procedures, protocols, etc.

Working methodology


This is a part-time subject. This means that there is a part of the subject that is done in person, in the classroom, with different activities individually or in groups of students and a part of the subject that is worked autonomously, outside the classroom.

The methodology in part-time subjects requires the responsibility of the student and their good time management.

The methodology of the subject will be carried out combining face-to-face classroom time, with autonomous work time, with the support of the virtual learning environment. The percentage of time the student spends is distributed as follows:

Both in the face-to-face sessions and in the autonomous work, the student will work individually and in work groups.

Each ECTS is equivalent to 25 hours of student dedication, considering the time invested in the total of the activities related to the face-to-face time and the time of autonomous work, that the professor of the subject guides, as well as the reading times, information search, connection to the Virtual Classroom, elaboration of works.

Contents


The contents of the subject are subject, both to the topic chosen by the student and to the type of work chosen. In any case, there will be transversal and common contents to all the TFG that will be presented in seminars. These sessions, face-to-face and / or semi-face-to-face, will include various topics related to the different phases of the TFG subject, such as the following: 

  • Operation and regulations of the TFG.
  • Information sources; Bibliographic research; Bibliographic reference managers.
  • Methodological bases for the realization of the TFG.
  • Written and oral communication of the TFG.

 

Learning activities


The activities of the subject follow the system of continuous evaluation, that is to say, that throughout the term the professor raises several activities, that the students must solve and deliver. The work of each one of the activities allows to value to the student, the follow-up that does to the asignatura and the elements of improvement, from the comments and notes that the professor will do of the activities.

The proposed activities are individual. The teacher gives the instructions so that the students can elaborate and deliver them. All the activities that are proposed are designed so that students have a practical perspective on the topics that are developed throughout the terms.

Evaluation system


The evaluation of the TFG is based on the assessment of the competencies achieved by the students, materialized in the numerical qualification, in accordance with the established in the valid legislation.

Qualification system (Royal Decree 1125/2003, of 5 September) that establishes the European credit system and the system of qualifications for university degrees of an official nature and valid throughout the state:

  • 0 - 4,9: Suspended
  • 5,0 - 6,9: Approved
  • 7,0 - 8,9: Notable
  • 9,0 - 10: Excellent

This assessment is a continuous and formative qualification procedure. Both basic and general competencies, as well as specific and transversal ones, will be assessed. The following table relates each evaluation activity to its weighting:

Together with the delivery of the Final Report, the student will have to answer the anonymous survey of satisfaction of the asignatura TFG.

It is a necessary condition to be able to move on to the evaluation phase by the court (written report and TFG defense) that the student has a minimum grade of 5/10 in the evaluation of the final report by the principal. This note will be communicated to the student along with the notes by the court. The student will be informed, once the final report has been evaluated by the principal and supervised by the committee, whether he / she is SUITABLE or NOT SUITABLE.

The subject TFG is approved with a 5/10, having to obtain a minimum of 5/10 in the evaluation of the memory of the final TFG (so much on the part of the director as of the court) and of the defense.

Recovery

If the student does not exceed the minimum criteria necessary to average the assessment activities, as set out in the previous paragraph, will be suspended in the subject. If the mark of the Final Report assigned by the principal does not reach 5 out of 10, the student will not be able to pass to the phase of the Court.

On the other hand, it will only be possible to carry out the recovery if the Final Report and / or the Defense of the TFG has been suspended, and in this case it will only be necessary to recover the part / s not passed. If the rating is 'Not submitted', you will not be eligible for recovery, in accordance with the Academic regulations for undergraduate studies from Pompeu Fabra University. The remaining notes (initial memory and tutorials) maintain their weighting and are not likely to be recovered.

The total or partial copy in any of the learning activities will mean a "Not Presented" in the subject, without option to present in the proof of recovery and without prejudice of the opening of a file for this reason.

Schedule

All the evaluation activities will have specific dates for completion and delivery, which will be communicated to the student at the beginning of the course through the Schedule.
