Description


  • General and theoretical study of the interrelationship that exists between transport and tourism: the evolution of the different types of transport and the transport policies themselves in the EU and the rest of the world.
  •  Analysis of the impact of transport policies versus tourist destinations

NOTE: This subject has methodological and digital resources to make possible its continuity in non-contact mode in case it is necessary for reasons related to the Covid-19. In this way, the achievement of the same knowledge and skills that are specified in this teaching plan will be ensured. The Tecnocampus will make available to teachers and students the digital tools needed to carry out the course, as well as guides and recommendations that facilitate adaptation to the non-contact mode.

The classroom (physical or virtual) is a safe space, free of sexist, racist, homophobic, transphobic and discriminatory attitudes, either towards students or teachers. We trust that together we can create a safe space where we can make mistakes and learn without having to suffer the prejudices of others.

Theoretical classes will be combined with the practical application of the competencies that are being achieved.

It will also include the analysis of various texts and news related to the field of transport from a triple perspective: investments, technological innovations and the problems presented by the infrastructures.

Item 1. Factors of choice of a means of transport

Real travel time, price, comfort, autonomy, security (of the companies themselves and planes, in the face of terrorist attacks, can a plane disappear without a trace ?, usefulness of black boxes), geographical boundaries, environmental impact. Analysis of the weaknesses and strengths of the different means of transport

Subject 2. Economic and social return of the infrastructures of transport

High-speed train, air transport and road transport are analyzed. Intermodality of transport. Urban Corridors. Notions of Transport Safety.

Item 3. Railway

Analysis of the problems of the infrastructures and the road network. Technological innovations (high speed and levitating magnetic trains). Liberalization process and free competition. Competition with air transport. Tourist trains

Item 4. Water transport

Motorways of the sea. Infrastructure analysis. Technological innovations. Competences with other means of transport. Cruises (Barcelona base port)

Item 5. Road transport

Analysis of the coach and automotive sector. Saturation of the Pyrenees. Technological innovations (vehicle and tunnel safety, amphibious buses, autonomous vehicles). Sustainable mobility (alternative fuels)

Item 6. Commercial aviation

International organizations (IATA, ICAO) and their agreements or conventions (Warsaw, Chicago, Montreal, freedoms of the air). Airplanes (Subsonic and supersonic). Alternative fuels. Processes of liberalization and business concentration (the case of Iberia). The phenomenon of Low Cost

Characteristics of airports. Mainport, hub and feeder airports. Slot management. Air control. Management and profitability of airports (the AENA case). Main Spanish airports of public management (AENA) and private. Collapse of airports. Analysis of the world's most innovative airports

Item 8. Transport networks and flows. Types of networks, the phenomenon of connectivity and network indicators

Subject 9.- The market of the tourist transport. Analysis of the supply and demand economy

Subject 10.- Externalities of the tourist transport I. The congestion. The role of tourism in the congestion of different forms of traffic

Subject 11.- Externalities of the tourist transport II. Environmental effects. The contribution of tourist transport to climate change and emission mitigation policies

To pass the course it is necessary to obtain at least a 5 in the final test

Recovery: In case the subject is suspended, only the final test can be recovered. To access the recovery the student must have taken the final test. In case of going to recovery and pass, the maximum note of the asignatura will be of 5.
