The company Chordata Motion, created in 2019 as a spin-off of the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya, wants to facilitate the use of motion capture technology for use in different applications.

 

The professor and researcher of the TecnoCampus Adso Fernandez, coordinator of the Degree in Video Game Design and Production, has collaborated with the company Chordata Motion in the development of algorithms to reconstruct the overall transfer to be incorporated into the technology developed by this company.

The company Chordata Motion, created in 2019 as a spin-off of the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya, wants to facilitate the use of motion capture technology for use in different applications. This is possible thanks to its commitment to open source and the design of a flexible and customisable system that allows the user to adapt motion capture technology (human and non-human) in fields as broad as Game Design, Animation, Digital Arts, Electronics, Music, Gait Analysis or Physical Therapy.

TecnoCampus has been collaborating with this company since the end of 2020, but it was not until 2021 that the parties signed a framework agreement for collaboration with the aim of intensifying their collaboration in training activities, scientific research, technological development and technology transfer. Since then they have participated in different joint collaboration projects and have presented themselves jointly in different calls of research and transfer. They will soon be collaborating again on a project funded by the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation program under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie grant agreement number 801342 (Tecniospring INDUSTRY), as well as the Agency for the Competitiveness of Business of the Generalitat de Catalunya (ACCIÓ), in the execution of an applied research project.

On this occasion, the TecnoCampus will host a Chordata Motion researcher who will do a research stay with the Signal and Data Processing research group, led by the professor. Marcos Faúndez, and will finish validating its product using the facilities of the motion capture laboratory located in the TCM1 building.
