The TecnoCampus has obtained certification as a Cycle Friendly Employer work center, a recognition promoted by the European Federation of Cyclists. The aim is to highlight and value the work of companies, administrations and organizations in promoting the use of bicycles among their employees and students.
The European Federation of Cyclists (ECF) thus recognizes the efforts of the Tecnocampus in this area, which in recent months has implemented various measures to facilitate daily cycling trips in its community.
Among other measures, the TecnoCampus has implemented different actions in the following areas with the aim of increasing the use of bicycles in students and workers:
The Cycle Friendly Employer project aims to highlight public and private institutions that are committed to implementing bicycle-related measures as a tool to move towards more sustainable mobility and the reduction of pollutant emissions in the processes and routines of the centers. of work.
"We are proud to receive this recognition, as we are the first university in the state to adhere to this certification and is an incentive to continue working to promote the health and quality of life of the university community." points out Alba Pardo, head of the Healthy and Sustainable Campus project. Pardo points out that the promotion of cycling not only contributes to increasing the level of physical activity and improving health and quality of life, but also has effects in terms of sustainability that make the TecnoCampus an active, healthy and sustainable environment. "We will also work together with the Chair of Circular Economy and Sustainability to launch other initiatives," he concludes.
Bikefriendly Group is the company responsible at the state level for assessing the degree of adequacy of public and private entities and for recognizing those that meet the parameters established by the CFE certification.
Organizations that want to be recognized as a Cycle Friendly Employer must implement other measures that serve to encourage the use of the bike among their staff, such as the participation of their employees in the awards 30 Days Bike at Work of April, the annual 'Bike to Work' competition in May, the launch of an incentive program or regular campaigns to encourage the use of the bike, a map of safe routes to reach work, a basic maintenance space for bikes or promoting training sessions on cycling and mobility issues.
