Dra. Esther Cabrera attended, from October 4 to 7,  al Fourth European Nursing Congress in Rotterdam (Netherlands). This international conference addressed the major issues related to aging that health professionals will face in the coming years. This congress was attended by more than 50 countries and nearly 3.000 professionals related to the care of the elderly.

The School of Health Sciences is participating in a European Union-funded project that will run for three and a half years in eight European countries: Germany, Spain, France, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Finland, Estonia and the United States. Countries Low. The coordination of the project will be carried out by the nurse Dra. Gabriele Meyer of Herdecke University (Witten, Germany). From Spain the project will be carried out at the Hospital Clínic de Barcelona, ​​and the European Union has funded this project with 3 million euros.

The project to identify best care practices for patients with dementia and their family caregivers. Dra. Cabrera, director of the ESCS, and Dr. A. Zabalegui, from Hospital Clínic de Barcelona, ​​are members of the consolidated research group "Care for Dependent Elderly (CGGC) ”, accredited by the Agency for the Management of University and Research Grants of Catalonia (AGAUR). Through this project, Spanish researchers will be able to contribute the knowledge and level of skills acquired, thus benefiting their European colleagues. Field studies will also be carried out with patients with dementia, their relatives or main carers and with professional carers.
